► Grew up in Ghana, where he spent two hours each day commuting to school ... Credits his mother, who could speak English very well at a young age, for his academic achievements as she taught him how to read, write and do math ... To ensure his continued education, had to live with one of his teachers to combat the challenging commute, but when that teacher left, he had to move back home and spent nearly a year without attending classes ... Because of that, his father, who lived in Canada, had to make arranagements for him to live with him ... At 9 years old, Dankwah flew 16 hours alone from Ghana to Canada

► Howard University was the first school to offer him a scholarship despite the eligibility challenges he faced with the NCAA since he was an international prospect ... Cited the family environment and sense of belonging as to why he chose and never considered leaving Howard
