After starting his collegiate career at the University of Alabama, Mac McWilliams finished up at Central Florida and flourished at the cornerback position. The Eagles selected McWilliams in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft and he is ready to compete in a cornerback room that had a huge upgrade in the 2024 Super Bowl LIX season.

McWilliams talks about the challenge ahead in this 3 Questions With.

1. What are you thinking about every day when you wake up and come to work?

McWilliams: "This is a job. This is my profession. So I'm going to do everything possible to work with the more experienced players here and let them teach me the ins and outs of how I can make myself a better football player every day. I know how good the defense was here last year and how the cornerbacks played. Every single guy here is a great player. I know I can learn a lot from them."

2. What is the biggest leap you're going to have to take in the NFL?

McWilliams: "I would say, just being a professional. At the college level, you've got younger guys and you just know you can win with your experience and your talent. That isn't going to work in the NFL. Everyone is here for a reason. I know I have to bring it every day, every minute of every day. I want to raise my game every day."

3. What are the traits of a great cornerback?

McWilliams: "There are so many. You have to be a dawg, No. 1. That last play is the last play, no matter what. Then you have to play with great technique on every play, because if you don't, the receivers are going to take advantage of you. You gotta play with feistiness. You gotta be tough and willing to do everything and anything – be there for the run, tackle, battle in the passing game. You're going to give up a play and you just have to be ready for the next step. The athletic part of it, I think that is something I have. What I'm working toward is my consistency on every play and, really, is it every play and every day."
