The Philadelphia Eagles report to the NovaCare Complex for the start of 2025 Training Camp, presented by Independence Blue Cross, on Tuesday, July 22. Over the next few weeks, PhiladelphiaEagles.com will get you ready by previewing the top storylines at each position. Today, a look at the quarterback position, featuring Super Bowl LIX MVP Jalen Hurts.

  • Did You Know?

After the 2024 bye week, Jalen Hurts was 14-0 in games that he started and finished, including playoffs. He amassed 36 total touchdowns against just four giveaways in that span.

  • Returning Starter

Jalen Hurts was marvelous in the 2024 playoffs, finishing with a 71.4 completion percentage, 108.6 passer rating, 10 total touchdowns against just one turnover, and an 8.0 yards per attempt on his way to Super Bowl LIX MVP honors. In the regular season, Hurts posted his highest career completion percentage (68.7) and passer rating (103.7). He had just five interceptions, the fewest since he became the full-time starter in 2021, and ranked fourth in the league with an average of 8.0 yards per attempt.

Hurts (6-1, 223 pounds) will turn just 27 in August. He's already been named to the Pro Bowl twice, selected to the All-Pro team, was runner-up for the NFL's MVP Award, started nine postseason games, won two conference titles, and captured a Super Bowl along with MVP honors. In fact, Hurts is just the seventh NFL quarterback with multiple conference titles and at least one Super Bowl victory in his first five seasons.

  • In the Mix

Tanner McKee (6-6, 231 pounds) has served as the No. 3 quarterback in his first two NFL seasons, but got on the field in the final two regular-season games this past season, making his first career start in the Week 18 win over the Giants. In that game, McKee threw for 269 and two touchdowns. In his NFL debut, McKee came in for an injured Kenny Pickett and tossed two touchdowns in four attempts as part of the NFC East-clinching 41-7 rout of the Cowboys. Following Pickett's trade to the Browns this offseason, the door is open for McKee to step up and assume the primary backup quarterback position this year.

  • New to the Nest

Before getting into the players, there will be a new face leading the quarterbacks this season. The Eagles hired Scot Loeffler (pronounced LEFF-ler) in the 2025 offseason after Doug Nussmeier left to join Kellen Moore's staff in New Orleans. Loeffler has nearly three decades of coaching experience in the college ranks. He comes to Philadelphia after six seasons as Bowling Green's head coach, where he guided the Falcons to consecutive bowl game appearances for the first time in almost a decade. This is not his first NFL stint, as he previously coached quarterbacks for the Detroit Lions in the 2008 season.

The Eagles acquired Dorian Thompson-Robinson (6-2, 203 pounds) this past offseason in a trade with the Cleveland Browns. Thompson-Robinson was on the Eagles' radar in the 2023 NFL Draft as the former UCLA quarterback visited the NovaCare Complex during the pre-draft process. The Browns selected Thompson-Robinson in the fifth round and the Eagles chose Tanner McKee one round later. Thompson-Robinson has played in 15 games over his first two seasons with five starts, throwing for 880 yards and a touchdown in that span. The Eagles were intrigued with the player who finished his college career as one of the school's most productive quarterbacks, ranking first all time in completions (886), touchdown passes (88), total touchdowns (116), and total offense (12,536 yards).

The Eagles used a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft on Mount Laurel, New Jersey native and former St. Joe's Prep star Kyle McCord (6-3, 218 pounds). In 26 career starts at Ohio State and Syracuse, McCord compiled a 22-4 record, throwing for 8,555 yards and 61 touchdowns. In his one season at Syracuse, McCord led the nation with an ACC-record 4,779 passing yards.

  • Bird Call

Head Coach Nick Sirianni on Jalen Hurts' approach to working with Kevin Patullo, who was promoted to offensive coordinator this offseason: "The same way he's handled it every year. I think he's a guy that just is going to – again, same thing, start right from the beginning again, working out like crazy again, getting ready again in the classroom, getting ready on the field.

"I don't notice any difference, whether it was Kellen (Moore) being the coordinator, Brian (Johnson), Shane (Steichen), or Kevin. I see the same process that he goes through, which is what makes Jalen special, is that he goes through the same process over and over and over again. The minute details. Just the same, over and over and over again, you just see him go through it and try to get better from new experiences, new voices."

There were plenty of standout moments from the Philadelphia Eagles 2024 season that resulted in their second ever Super Bowl. Take a look at some of your favorite players and plays gone mini in this recap of the season.
