After a standout career at the University of Texas that ended in the College Football Playoffs, safety Andrew Mukuba set about preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft. He did his job well, and the Eagles were thrilled to take him in the second round with the 64th overall selection.

What's next?

Creating a new name for himself – he goes by Drew, not Andrew – and earning a spot in Philadelphia's defensive backfield as he talks about in this 3 Questions With.

1. What is required to be a great safety in the game of football?

Mukuba: "You have to be able to do everything – cover in the passing game, support the run, tackle, and you have to know everybody's assignments and where you are supposed to be.

"It is important to learn the defense and that is the first priority. You do that and then your physical ability takes care of itself. My game matured in college and I gained a lot of knowledge about the game of football and was able to progress and grow my game. Now I'm at a different level. This is where the best players in the world play, so I have to be at my best and handle the environment and stay in the playbook and go out and do something I love and that's play football."

2. You moved to the United States at age 9 after being born in Zimbabwe. What has the journey been like?

Mukuba: "I've been so busy, honestly, that I haven't really reflected on it. My parents did a great job taking care of the family and putting us in a great place to have success. I remember only a few things from my younger years, but I appreciate what my family went through to get here and all the work we've put in and the support we've given each other. Now I'm focused on what is in front of me and I know the Eagles are a great team and I'm going to have to be at my best to be my best version."

3. For the fans who might not know a lot about you, what can you say about what they can expect to see?

Mukuba: "There are guys like Budda Baker (Cardinals) and Brian Branch (Lions) who are similar in size to me and they have been guys I've kind of patterned myself after. I'm going to be aggressive and smart and play with everything I have. All my heart. I have a lot of energy and always have had energy and so for me to go out on the field and have fun, it's kind of like being in the park with your friends playing ball and being physical and helping my team win. That's all that matters – helping the Eagles win. I want to do my part, perfect my role, and enjoy everything about being a Philadelphia Eagle."
