The Philadelphia Eagles report to the Jefferson Health Training Complex for the start of 2026 Training Camp on Tuesday, July 28th. Over the next few weeks, PhiladelphiaEagles.com will get you ready by previewing the top storylines at each position. Today, a look at the defensive tackle position featuring the recently extended Jordan Davis.
Did you Know?
Jalen Carter became the youngest defensive tackle in franchise history to earn Pro Bowl recognition in 2024 (23 years old).
Returning Starters
Just as they did in college for the Georgia Bulldogs, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter have formed a formable interior defensive line for the Eagles.
Drafted with the Eagles' first round pick in 2022, Davis earned PFWA All-Rookie Team selection as he helped the Eagles reach Super Bowl LVII. It's no surprise that the 6-foot-6, 336-pound defensive tackle made an impact immediately in his rookie season. At the Combine before the draft, Davis ran a 4.78 40-yard dash, believed to be the one fastest ever at a player his size.
Davis made multiple key plays in the Eagles' playoff run to a Super Bowl LIX victory, including a sack against Patrick Mahomes in the big game itself. In March, Davis agreed to a three-year contract extension with the organization.
Carter, drafted by the Eagles in the first round a year after his Georgia teammate, has more than lived up to expectations. Through three years in the NFL, Carter has accumulated 108 tackles, 13.5 sacks, and 121 quarterback hits in the regular season alone.
Like Davis, Carter was named to the PFWA All-Rookie team in 2023 after logging the most sacks (6.0) by an Eagles rookie since 2001. In 2024, Carter earned second-team All-Pro honors as well as a Pro Bowl selection. At only 25 years old, Carter now enters his fourth year with the Eagles.
In the Mix
Despite not always being listed as a starter, no defensive tackle saw the field more than year-old Moro Ojomo in 2025, taking part in 66 percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps. When the Eagles lost Milton Williams to the Patriots in 2025 free agency, there were concerns over who would fill Williams' role in the defensive line. The Eagles found their answer in their 2023 seventh-round pick.
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Ojomo committed to the University of Texas for football, earning All-Big 12 honors twice. He had a breakout year for the Eagles in 2025, registering six sacks, 38 tackles, and 52 quarterback pressures as the change-of-pace defensive lineman.
Byron Young is another factor in the Eagles' defensive line unit. Drafted in 2023 by the Raiders in the third round, Young was traded to Philadelphia after only one year in Las Vegas. Young didn't see the field for the Eagles in 2024 after being placed on Injured Reserve with a hamstring injury in October, but became a key rotational piece in 2025, playing in every game and taking part in 30 percent of defensive snaps in the regular season.
If you haven't noticed, the Eagles' defensive tackle room is young. Ty Robinson made headlines at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine when the Nebraska Cornhusker ran an official 4.83 40-yard dash– the fastest amongst defensive linemen that year. The Eagles drafted Robinson with their fourth-round pick, adding the Combine standout to an already athletic defensive tackle rotation.
As a rookie in 2025, Robinson saw action in 11 games, playing nine percent of the Eagles' defensive snaps in the regular season. The 6-foot-5 defensive tackle will look to build upon his rookie year and earn more snaps this Training Camp.
Also returning for another year is Gabe Hall. Undrafted out of Baylor in 2024, Hall has been part of the Eagles' practice squad for two years, originally making the initial 53-man roster in 2025. Standing at 6-foot-6, Hall was elevated for two regular-season games for the Eagles in 2025. Through five seasons at Baylor, Hall accumulated 76 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and 12.5 sacks in 47 games.
Next is the oldest member of the Eagles' defensive linemen despite only being 27, Ta'Quon Graham. The second University of Texas alumna on this list, Graham spent his first four years in the NFL with the Falcons as a rotational piece. Halfway through his fifth season with the team, Graham was released and signed by the Eagles to the practice squad in 2025.
New to the Nest
Two rookies joined the Eagles' ranks this offseason.
In the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected 6-foot-4, 306-pound Uar Bernard from the NFL's International Player Pathway. The pick made headlines not only because of Bernard's athleticism, but also because the Nigerian basketball player had never played American football before.
The Eagles have a history of dipping into the International Pathway pool, selecting Jordan Mailata out of Australia in 2018, and signing Kenyan rugby player Joshua Weru as an outside linebacker this year as well.
Bernard ran a 4.6 40-yard dash, recorded a 10-10 broad jump, and managed 31 bench reps at the HBCU and International Pathway Pro Day.
Undrafted free agent Zion Wilson is the newest addition to the defensive line, with the Eagles signing the rookie out of Eastern Carolina University on June 5th. Wilson was expected to return to college for another year by transferring to the University of Virginia, but the NCAA denied his eligibility waiver.
The 6-foot-3, 316-pound Wilson started his career as a walk-on offensive lineman and moved to the other side of the ball in 2024. In his first and only season as a starter, Wilson posted 42 tackles, 10 for loss, and seven sacks in 2025.
Bird Call
Jordan Davis: "It's exciting to go out there and work with the guys. We all lean on each other in those times and moments because it's going to be challenging. You're going to have challenging moments in the season. When we go out there and we attack the box drills and we do it as a unit, we do it as a team, because the offense is doing their conditioning as well. It kind of brings that bonding that we all talk about, how we need that bonding by trial, trial by fire."
