OT Charles Brown Scouting Report

OT Charles Brown, Southern Cal
Pos. Rank: 6 Grade: 2nd Round Height: 6-5 1/2 Weight: 303 40: 5.21 Year: 5-Sr.

The Good: Tall, fluid offensive tackle who has made a dramatic rise up draft boards the past seven months. Bends his knees, displays the ability to flex, and is strong at the point. Flashes power as a run blocker, pushes defenders off the line of scrimmage and then seals them from the action. Plays with a good degree of quickness, displays solid footwork at left tackle, and effectively uses blocking angles. Keeps his head on a swivel, displays good awareness, and works well with teammates. Stout, anchors at the point in pass protection and stays square throughout the action. Knocks pass rushers from their angle of attack with good hand punch.

The Bad: Struggles to adjust on blitzes and ineffective blocking in motion. Overextends into blocks, bends at the waist, and plays off balance.

The Verdict: Brown is a nice-sized tackle with a large degree of upside potential. He possesses good power for the strong side and shows enough footwork to be considered as a blind side protector in the NFL.
