|OT Anthony Davis, Rutgers
|Pos. Rank: 4
|Grade: 1st Round
The Good: Well-sized athletic pass protecting tackle with a great amount of upside. Possesses terrific footwork, fluid sliding out off the edge, and covers a lot of area on the field. Blocks with good knee bend, gets leverage on opponents and easily handles speed rushers or athletic defenders. Jolts opponents with good hand punch, steers defenders from the action, and seals them from plays with good body positioning. Quickly slides out to pick up the blitz, adjusts to oncoming defenders and fluid blocking in motion. Has the frame to add size.
The Bad: Lacks a dominant base and really does not get much movement run blocking. Has been labeled as immature by some scouts and not considered to be a hard worker.
The Verdict: Davis burst onto the scene as a true freshman and has been a top-rated left tackle prospect ever since. He possesses the physical skills and footwork necessary to quickly break into a starting lineup at the next level and has the potential to be a top blind-side protector for years to come. Must show some maturity, make football a year-round priority, and work hard at his craft to ever meet the expectations NFL scouts have placed on him.
