The Eagles made one trade for a veteran defensive back earlier this week, acquiring Michael Carter II from the Jets. The Eagles have made another deal to add depth at the cornerback position ahead of Tuesday's 4 PM deadline.

On Saturday, the Eagles agreed to acquire cornerback Jaire Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick that originally belonged to Denver. The team also placed safety Marcus Epps and outside linebacker Azeez Ojulari on Injured Reserve.

The 28-year-old Alexander spent the first seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers, where he established himself as a standout outside cornerback, earning Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors twice (2020, 2022 seasons). He signed a one-year deal with the Ravens after the Packers released him in June. Alexander played in two games this season in Baltimore, registering five tackles.

Here's what you need to know about the newest Eagle:

• How does Alexander fit in? The 5-foot-10, 196-pound Alexander gives Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio another player with starting experience on the outside to work into the mix opposite of Quinyon Mitchell. Jakorian Bennett is designated for return from Injured Reserve, so as the Eagles reconvene from the Bye Week, they will have Bennett, Carter II, Cooper DeJean, Adoree' Jackson, Mac McWilliams, Mitchell, Kelee Ringo, and now Alexander at cornerback.

• The Eagles return from the Bye Week and will travel to face Alexander's former team, the Green Bay Packers, on Monday Night Football in Week 10.

• If Fangio wants experience, Alexander has played in 80 career regular-season games (76 starts) and an additional seven postseason contests with six starts. Alexander was a Packers' team captain in 2021.

• Alexander was the 18th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers out of Louisville. The Eagles were interested in Alexander, as they brought him in for a Top 30 visit. Of course, the Eagles had the 32nd selection that year after winning Super Bowl LII.

• Alexander was Pro Football Focus' top-ranked cornerback and the only one with a grade above 90 (90.5) in 2020.

• Alexander was outstanding in the 2020 playoffs, allowing one catch for -3 yards in the Divisional Round win over the Rams. He followed that up in the NFC Championship Game by picking off Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady on consecutive possessions when Brady was targeting wide receiver Mike Evans. Alexander finished with more interceptions (2) than receptions allowed (1) in the postseason.

• In his second Pro Bowl and All-Pro campaign of 2022, Alexander posted the best numbers of his career with five interceptions and four tackles for loss to go along with 56 tackles and a team-best 14 passes defensed. He was Pro Football Focus' seventh-ranked cornerback and allowed a passer rating of just 63.7, the eighth lowest in the league.

• Overall, Alexander has 290 career tackles, 12 for loss, 12 interceptions, 1.5 sacks, 70 passes defensed, 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and a touchdown in the regular season with another 28 tackles, three interceptions, and five passes defensed in the playoffs.
