On a conference call to preview the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs, Super Bowl champion quarterback and current ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer was asked for his take on Nick Foles' performance and future with the Eagles. Dilfer is very, very high on the future prospects for the Eagles quarterback.

"I look at Nick Foles having a tremendous career in Philly," Dilfer said. "Not just a good one, a tremendous one."

Foles threw 27 touchdown passes and accounted for 30 total touchdowns against just two interceptions for the third-lowest single-season interception percentage in NFL history. Foles led the league with a 119.2 passer rating, which also was the third-best rating in league annals. Dilfer doesn't think Foles is a one-year wonder.

"I don't believe this year was a fluke by any stretch of the imagination," Dilfer said.

When studying Foles' tape at Arizona prior to the 2012 NFL Draft, Dilfer believed that Foles was worthy of a first-round pick. Furthermore, Dilfer thought that if Foles had played at an SEC school instead of Arizona, the Eagles' quarterback would have been in the discussion for the Heisman Trophy.

"I thought that much of him as a college player," Dilfer added. "He had very little help at Arizona."

Dilfer did offer one area where Foles can improve.

"If there's a hole in his game, it's that he can be methodical at times," Dilfer said. "If he can get a little more twitch, the term I always use is sudden, a little more suddenness in his game, it'll just help him that much more."

But Dilfer "absolutely" backs Foles as the Eagles' quarterback of the future. Dilfer explained that the misconception about head coach Chip Kelly's offense was that it takes someone fleet of foot to thrive while instead the reads that have to be made post-snap require a quick thinker.

"So much of this offense is about having a quick mind," Dilfer said. "Nick does a great job with that."
