Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Cleaning out the draft notebook, here are some tidbits ...

• I think the Eagles were really smart to move back and add extra picks. I was interviewed by the guys at EaglesFanCast prior to the draft. They wondered if we had too many picks and might be moving up. I told them we might, but also could trade back to add more picks. This was a deep draft class and the Eagles had holes to fill.

• I always like to quote the old saying that actions speak louder than words. Many people thought that Andy Reid would add at least one offensive lineman. Didn't happen. I hope people now will start to believe Reid and the team when they say that they really do like Stacy Andrews at guard and Nick Cole at center. There is already depth at each position. Max Jean-Gilles is the top backup guard and Mike McGlynn will challenge for the center spot as well as adding depth at left guard. I did want us to acquire a backup left tackle to challenge King Dunlap, but things didn't quite work out.

• New special teams coach Bobby April should be ecstatic with this draft class. Everyone outside of Mike Kafka could help out on special teams in some way, shape, or form. Allen, Clayton, Harbor, Chaney, and Coleman could all be standouts in kick coverage.

For my in-depth analysis on each pick as well as an explanation of my favorite pick - it's a surprise - check out my weekly Fan-Demonium column.
