Eagles Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio was named a finalist for the Associated Press NFL Assistant Coach of the Year on Thursday. This is the second year in a row Fangio has been up for the honor after finishing fourth last year.

Philadelphia's defense finished No. 5 in the NFL in scoring defense, giving up just 19.1 points per game. The Eagles' 56.8% completion percentage allowed led the league while their 75.4 passer rating surrendered ranked second.

Under Fangio, second-year players Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean earned first-team All-Pro honors as two of the best defensive backs in the NFL.
