Wednesday in the locker room at the NovaCare Complex and what's ahead is all that matters: The 2-2 Denver Broncos coming to town with a dominating defense and an offense that manhandled Cincinnati on Monday night. What's going on? Here is a whirl around the locker room ...
1. What is next for cornerback Kelee Ringo?
Kelee Ringo never puts his head down. Playing the game's most dynamic position – the saying is, you're only as good as your next play at cornerback – Ringo has stayed the course in an eventful three seasons as an Eagle.
He has been a starter. He has been a reserve. He has come in and played in a pinch. He has been solely a special teamer.
"At this level, you have to be ready for anything," Ringo said. "That's the nature of the business. I understand that it gets better later. I told myself that I have to be ready for whatever opportunity comes to me. Having my head down and letting something that has affected me previously, that can mess up your opportunity for whatever comes next. Continue to stay level-headed. It's never over. I'm stronger because of what I've been through.
"There isn't any good story that doesn't include some adversity."
Ringo, a fourth-round draft pick in 2023, started four games that season, then played in 17 with one start last season and had his first start of 2025 last week in Tampa against the Buccaneers. He played well and is ready for whatever happens. Adoree' Jackson is still working to overcome a groin injury. Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio said that Ringo played well last week and said "it's possible" Ringo could be a starter again.
So, we'll see. In the meantime, Ringo is ready for anything that comes his way.
"You have to stay that way," he said. "Denver has an explosive offense and Bo Nix can do a lot of things. I've played against him before and he makes plays, a lot like Baker Mayfield. Good receivers. This is going to be a big test and we'll be ready."
2. Wide receiver A.J. Brown addresses the media
As expected, wide receiver A.J. Brown talked to the media and expressed his happiness about being an Eagle and he also talked about wanting more, striving for perfection, and the competitive nature of the business.
"I am happy here, very happy, and I also want to do anything I can to help us win, so I think it's fair that I want the ball to help get us going," Brown said. "Like last week against the Rams, I caught the SLUGGO (slant-and-go route that he ran) and got the offense going. The next play, touchdown pass to Dallas Goedert – the safety came over to my side to open the ball. I don't think it's a bad thing to want the ball. It's not just for targets or anything or put numbers up. I see that we're struggling and I want the ball in those times. When there are times when we can't find the way, give me the ball. The game's on the line, give it to me. I want that pressure. Put it on myself. I work hard for it.
"My teammates know that when the game is on the line, look at me. I want everybody in the stadium to know that. That's not a secret. I'm not shying away from that. That's where the frustration comes out. When we're struggling, you can get the ball to me and I'm gonna open things up. Put it on my back."
3. Jihaad Campbell has the highest goals in mind
He IS a rookie, but the only time linebacker Jihaad Campbell thinks in those terms is when he has to do rookie things like bring food to the team's charter on road trips or grab Rita's Water Ice during Training Camp.
Otherwise, Campbell – the 31st overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft – is just another football player. He just happens to be an outstanding one who believes he can be great.
"I wouldn't doubt that. I was put on this Earth for a reason. God doesn't make a mistake at all," Campbell said. "He puts us through different challenges so we can test ourselves, so we can be our true selves. I will never get satisfied with anything in life, especially football.
"So I'm helping this team now and I'm doing OK. It is because the guys around me are helping so much. Our linebacker room is amazing and they've been so great to me. The coaching staff, second to none. Long way to go, but my goal is to be the best and I will never stop feeling that way."
4. Back and doing his thing – Will Shipley helps in every phase
A rib injury cost Will Shipley Weeks 2 and 3, but he came back in Tampa and played well against the Bucs, averaging 33 yards on two kickoff returns and making a tackle in kick coverage. The second-year man is always ready to chip in.
"You do what you can do and that's the nature of this team and this business," Shipley said. "At the end of the day, I'm taking advantage of every opportunity they put in front of me. We've got the best running back in the league (Saquon Barkley) and he's going to take 90 percent of the snaps, and whenever he needs a spell, A.J. (Dillon) has got his back. Whether it's me or 29 (Dillon) going out there, either way we're just ready for the opportunity and we're going to make the most of it."
5. Za'Darius Smith could see a larger role
He is, says veteran outside linebacker Za'Darius Smith, still in his "Training Camp phase," after signing with the Eagles just a few weeks ago. But things are coming along nicely for the 11-year veteran who loves being in Philadelphia with this team.
"Great city that loves its football," he said. "All I see anywhere are Eagles shirts and colors. It's great, for sure."
Smith played 20 snaps against Kansas City in Week 2, 24 against the Rams in Week 3, and 36 Sunday in Tampa. With the position thinned by injuries to Nolan Smith, Jr. and Ogbo Okoronkwo, Smith could see more time in the weeks ahead.
That's fine with him, Smith said.
"I'm learning what they want from the position and getting there," he said. "We have a good room. A lot of good, young players. We know Denver's offense is strong – good running game, they can throw the ball and the QB (Bo Nix) moves around back there. Good group overall. If I have to play more, I'm fine with that. Whatever they need me to do."
