Game Recap: Eagles 24, Titans 20

The Eagles escape Nashville after a game-winning, two-minute-drill drive by Jalen Hurts and the offense.

16x9_PHIvsTEN_Final

In a game where the temperature on the turf was measured at over 150 degrees Fahrenheit at times, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Tennessee Titans 24-20 in Nashville, advancing to 2-0 on the season. Tennessee falls to 0-2. After the Titans took a 20-17 lead with a Joey Slye 32-yard field goal, the Eagles offense had less than two minutes to either tie the game with a field goal, or get a touchdown to take the lead.

Jalen Hurts founds Dontayvion Wicks and DeVonta Smith for big gains, marching the Eagles down the field. Throwing from the TEN 3 with 14 seconds left in the game, Hurts found Darius Cooper wide open in the back of the end zone to win the game as the Eagles' defense held strong. The game-winning touchdown grab was Cooper's first-career touchdown reception in the NFL.

"It's special," Hurts said of Cooper's first-career touchdown catch. "I think the way he goes about his business, we've all seen him show what he's capable of and his ability ... for him and how he stepped in and on a day like that, we needed everybody."

Drew Kendall made his second NFL start at center (Week 18 2025 vs. Washington) as Cam Jurgens shifted inside to make his first NFL start at left guard.

This is the first time that the Eagles have defeated the Titans in Tennessee. The Eagles had to adapt after losing Saquon Barkley for the first quarter and Dallas Goedert getting injured early, with the latter missing the rest of the game.

Standout Players for the Eagles

WR DeVonta Smith

When the Eagles needed to score on their final possession, Jalen Hurts consistently looked Smith's way. The veteran wide receiver brought in four catches on the Eagles' final drive for 28 yards, with 19 of those yards coming on a leaping catch for a massive third down conversion to the TEN 3 with less than 20 seconds left on the clock.

Smith led the Eagles with 117 receiving yards on 10 catches and a touchdown.

"I take a lot of pride in it," Sith said of being the 'go-to-receiver.' "I feel like it was time. It was time for me to go out there, time for me to show what I can do, that I can be that guy. I had the opportunity and I went out there and did."

WR Dontayvion Wicks

After recording a touchdown in his debut for the Eagles last week, Dontayvion Wicks stepped up when needed. DeVonta Smith's 19-yard third-down conversion on the final drive was set up by Wicks' contested catch on a prior 3rd-and-6. With Marcus Smith draped all over him, Wicks leaped up in the air and secured the ball as he was downed in Tennessee territory.

Wicks broke 70-yards receiving for a second consecutive game, recording 74 yards on five catches.

"Jalen made great throws. Smitty, Tay made just phenomenal plays," Head Coach Nick Sirianni said after the game.

CBs Quinyon Mitchell and Riq Woolen

Per Next Gen Stats, Cam Ward was just 4/8 for 37 yards when targeting receivers covered by Quinyon Mitchell and Riq Woolen. While the Eagles' secondary have not forced an interception yet this season, they have held both quarterbacks, Jayden Daniels and Cam Ward, to under 200-yards passing.

OLB Jalyx Hunt and DT Jalen Carter

Cam Ward was under pressure all game in part due to Jalyx Hunt's four quarterback pressures. Hunt also made plays defending the run, recording five tackles in the game. While Jalen Carter only recorded one tackle in the contest, the defensive tackle made it count. After giving up a 3rd-and-22, allowing the Titans into field goal range while the game was tied late, Carter sacked Ward on first-and-goal, leading to the Titans kicking a field goal for the lead instead of scoring a potential touchdown.
