Devour the Competition: Jumbo Jet Breakfast Sandwich

Devour the Competition is an initiative created by the Flik Hospitality staff to help the players prepare for the game through delicious food. The chefs prepare a meal during the week of the game that is inspired by the Eagles' opponent. As the Eagles get ready to host the New York Jets on Sunday, the chefs made the Jumbo Jet Breakfast Sandwich. The original version, called the Jumbo Jet Breakfast Bagel which is offered at MetLife Stadium, comes on a 10-inch everything bagel. Our version of this gigantic breakfast delight is stuffed with chargrilled sliced pork roll, fried eggs, seared pork sausage, slices of American cheese, a chorizo potato hash, and thinly sliced poblano peppers.

Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS

1 large 10-inch everything bagel

10 slices American cheese

10 hard fried eggs

10 pork sausage patties

8 slices provolone cheese

12 slices grilled pork roll

1 thinly sliced poblano pepper

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

CHORIZO HASH

1 pound of ground chorizo

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons small diced onion

2 tablespoons small diced bell pepper

3 cups shredded potatoes

1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Salt and pepper

PREPARATION

CHORIZO HASH

Sear ground chorizo in a large frying pan over medium-high heat, breaking it up into crumbles, until fully cooked. Add in shredded potatoes, garlic, onion, peppers, and vegetable oil. Saute until golden brown. Salt and pepper to taste. Set aside and keep warm.

ASSEMBLING THE SANDWICH

Slice open the bagel and layer American cheese on bottom half. Place warm chorizo hash atop cheese. Hard fry 10 eggs and layer on top chorizo hash. Top with sausage patties. Layer provolone cheese atop sausage.

Layer warm grilled pork roll atop provolone cheese. Place sliced poblano peppers atop pork roll and scatter shredded cheddar over it. Place layered bagel in oven at 350 F and toast for 3 to 4 minutes.

Place bagel top on and then slice into 10 even wedges, securing each wedge with a bamboo sandwich pick. Serves 10.
