The Eagles had their first fully padded practice on Tuesday, and it started an hour early due to extreme heat. Still, it was a blistering day at the NovaCare Complex. Here is what stood out at Tuesday's nearly two-hour practice:
Injury Report
Zack Baun (back contusion) and Nolan Smith (concussion) both did not practice for the first time this Training Camp. Danny Gray (finger), Andrew Mukuba (shoulder), and DeVonta Smith (back tightness) remained sidelined on Tuesday.
Highlights
- The defense impressed as Jalen Hurts was forced to throw away a number of passes. Vic Fangio's unit was the best in the NFL last season and despite losing some key players, Training Camp has been promising for the group.
- Kelee Ringo and Adoree' Jackson continued to rotate in with the first-team defense. Ringo got the first crack on Tuesday.
- Running back Will Shipley showed some juice in the pass game, catching a crossing touchdown from Hurts early in practice. He later had an impressive sideline grab, pinning the ball on his shoulder and surviving the ground.
- Jaylx Hunt had a nice bull rush during O-line vs. D-line drills. After coming on strong towards the end of last season, Hunt has been active every day at Training Camp.
- Jihaad Campbell had a strong showing in the linebacker vs. running back 1-on-1s. The rookie has continued to progress this offseason, and his size is apparent on the field.
- Saquon Barkley had a one-handed grab on a pass from Hurts. In a game-winning two-point conversion situation, Barkley bolted through the right side for the "win."
- Dorian Thompson-Robinson had a couple of darts while working with the third team. He continues to flash his speed on the ground this offseason as well.
- Joshua Uche had his best practice of camp, generating pressure on both McKee and Hurts. He also had a strong rep in O-line vs. D-line.
- Elijah Cooks had a highlight play for the third consecutive practice, bringing in a pass from Tanner McKee in the back of the end zone. Even more impressive was McKee's pass, which was perfectly placed between multiple defenders.
The Eagles had their first practice in full pads on Tuesday.

Position Preview: Defensive Tackle
The Eagles' investment in the defensive tackle position through the years has paid off and we've seen the results time and time again: Philadelphia starts its defense with a game-wrecking approach inside and then moves to the edges.
Jalen Carter's rise to elite lineman has helped, of course. He is a dominating player with his quickness, his power, his football intelligence and his technique and rarely is there a snap where you see Carter blocked by a single lineman. More often, teams are using two and three linemen to keep Carter from the backfield.
Next to him is Jordan Davis, in his best shape of his life and also playing his best football. Davis really stepped up his game late in the 2024 season and continued that through the postseason. He's lost 26 pounds while still playing at about 330 pounds and he is enjoying a fine Training Camp.
The Eagles are excited about Moro Ojomo, who had a key role last season as a third-down interior lineman who won at the point of attack. With Milton Williams moving on to New England in free agency, Ojomo could have a more prominent role in 2025, something he and the coaching staff embrace. Ojomo has stood out through the first week of camp.
Thomas Booker returns after helping the Eagles with 166 snaps inside, offering energy and production. Byron Young, a former third-round pick from the Raiders, and Gabe Hall, signed after the 2024 NFL Draft, spent last season on the practice squad and are here vying for roster spots.
The Eagles added to the group in the fourth round of this year's NFL Draft, taking Nebraska's Ty Robinson in the fourth round. He is a high-motor, versatile lineman who is expected to make a push for time and a role in the defense.
Joe Evans, a 337-pound big body, and Jacob Sykes, who came on board last week, are also in the mix pushing for notice and adding to a deep and talented group inside.
At a position where teams are desperate to add front-line talent and depth, the Eagles have both, a credit to their approach to invest resources and then work hard developing that talent to help the Eagles' defense win at the snap of the football. – Dave Spadaro
