The Eagles added to their roster by trading for running back/kick returner Tank Bigsby on Tuesday. It has been a wild 48 hours for Bigsby, arriving in Philadelphia and getting acquainted with his new team, be he's excited for this new chapter in his career.

"I was like, 'OK, let's go,'" Bigsby said about his reaction to getting traded. "Just go get an opportunity to go do something great. So I was happy about it. Thanked the Lord about it, I can't sit there and complain. It's the next opportunity. I'm with the Eagles now, let's go."

The Eagles gave up 2026 fifth- and sixth-round picks for Bigsby, someone they think can help the team as a kick returner and add strong depth to the running back room.

Bigsby was a third-round pick in 2023, and he rushed for 766 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He brings a physicality to the field and has stood out to Head Coach Nick Sirianni.

"I just love the player," Sirianni said. "We see a vision for the player and of how we can use him and the things that he can do and the skill set that he has. ... He's a really good runner and so excited to add that depth to this room."

Bigsby joins a running back room with All-Pro Saquon Barkley, second-year player Will Shipley, and veteran A.J. Dillon. Bigsby had praise for Barkley, calling him "the best in the league," and said he's looking forward to learning from him.

While Barkley will shoulder most of the workload in the backfield, Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo sees Bigsby fitting in well to his offense.

"He's a dynamic player and he's going to add depth to our roster," Patullo said. "I think he can make some plays for us offensively and we can use him in different ways."

Bigsby had a breakout season running the ball last year, but he also showed his ability as a kickoff returner in the NFL's new format. Bigsby averaged 32.5 yards per return on six kickoffs for Jacksonville, and the Eagles see him as someone who can help their unit as teams increase their return rates.

"As I watch film across the league the last couple years, he's popped up a lot in Jacksonville in terms of those big 40-yard chunk runs," Special Teams Coordinator Michael Clay said. "Being a running back, he has that natural vision and feel when it comes to return the ball."

It has been a whirlwind of a few days for Bigsby, who will now look to pick up a new scheme while preparing for an opponent each week. But his focus is lasered on whatever comes his way.

"I'm just here to do whatever they ask me to do and do my job at the full potential," Bigsby said. "So whatever they ask me to do, just be on my best at that." — Written by Matt Ryan
