The New England Patriots defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21 in a tightly contested preseason contest on Saturday night. Carson Steele totaled over 100 all-purpose yards and had two highlight-worthy hurdles, with one for a touchdown.

Per Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro on the Eagles' preseason broadcast, running back Ja'Quinden Jackson has strength and movement in all extremities. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

• Touchdown Patriots. New England takes the lead late on a 37-yard throw from Behren Morton to Nick DeGennaro who was open down the right side of the field and entered the end zone untouched. Borregales' extra point is good (Eagles 21 - Patriots 24).

Standouts

Ty Robinson

After recording a sack against Baltimore last week, the second-year defensive tackle showed out again with two sacks on Tommy DeVito. Robinson was also a factor in the run game, stifling multiple rushing attempts at the line of scrimmage.

Carson Steele

The Eagles running back made his impact in the receiving game, totaling 84 yards and a touchdown with 6 catches. Steele made his impact felt with not one, but two hurdles over Patriots defensive backs on key plays.

Will Shipley

Shipley was the workhorse for the Eagles in the first half, averaging 5.1 yards per carry for 56 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Chance Campbell

The linebacker was all over the field for the Eagles making plays in both the run and pass game. Campbell knocked down a pass attempt, finished with 6 tackles, and a special teams tackle. On the first play of the 4th quarter, Campbell read a run perfectly, seeing the blocking develop and rushed the gap to stuff Jam Miller for no gain.

Shaun Wade

The stat sheet doesn't lie. The cornerback led the game with 10 tackles and forced a fumble for his second game in a row. Last week, Wade punched the ball out from Ravens rookie receiver Elijah Sarratt for the Eagles' turnover. This week, Wade punched the ball from veteran running back JaMycal Hasty, resulting in an Eagles touchdown on the resulting offensive possession.
