Dallas Goedert doesn't mind being the 'other' tight end

PHOENIX – He is the "other" tight end in this Super Bowl LVII matchup, but that doesn't bother Dallas Goedert, who knows that he is a huge part of what the Eagles do offensively and the he will get his chances to help Philadelphia win.

Making the most of those opportunities is what it's all about.

"I don't care if it's blocking or catching the football or whatever," he said on Tuesday, "my job is to do my job and to do it well. I'm excited about that. I know that Travis Kelce is the guy who is the All-Pro. He's the best tight end in the game. I know I'm right up there, so it's going to be fun to show everybody what I can do.

"I'm treating this like any other game. I always want to do what I can do to help the team win, so that's the mindset I will have for this game. It's obviously a higher stage, but it's just another game, so I'm going to keep my routine pre-game, pre-week the same as I can and hopefully when kickoff when kickoff comes and get that first pop in my pads, that everything just falls back and feels like football again."

Goedert led NFL tight ends in yards and yards after the catch prior to his shoulder injury suffered in the Week 10 (November 14) loss to Washington, so it isn't like we're projecting that he could have a big role catching the football in this game. He finished the regular season with 55 receptions for 702 yards and three touchdowns, and contributed a hearty 10 catches for 81 yards and a score in the playoff wins over New York and San Francisco.

Regardless of how many passes come his way on Sunday, Goedert is ready to play in the biggest game of his life.

"It's a dream come true for me to be the starting tight end for the Philadelphia Eagles," he said. "It's amazing. But I'm just going to continue to do what I've done all year, what I've done my whole career, and that's just work hard and put the team in the best position to win the game. That's what we are here to do and nothing else matters."
