Quinyon Mitchell balled out in Week 4, and the NFL took notice.
Mitchell earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his showing against the Buccaneers. The cornerback gave up just two catches on nine targets for 6 yards, according to Pro Football Focus. His five passes defended set a career high.
"I thought he played very well the other day," Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio said on Tuesday. "I told him I think it was his best game since he's been here. He played well."
That's a strong endorsement for Mitchell's performance in Week 4 after he finished second in the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting last season and established himself as a lockdown cornerback.
This is the first time Mitchell has won a weekly award in his career. He's the second Eagle to do so this season after Jordan Davis earned NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his game-winning blocked field goal turned touchdown in Week 3.
