The Ertz family added yet another trophy to their impressive collection.
Tight end Zach Ertz won Best Tweet from a U.S. Athlete on Tuesday as part of Twitter’s inaugural Women’s World Cup #GoldenTweet Awards for his post about his wife, two-time World Cup Champion Julie Ertz.
The #GoldenTweet contest looked for the top tweets from the FIFA Women’s World Cup across multiple categories. Throughout the tournament, Twitter’s analytics team worked to identify the best tweets from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Spain, South Korea, U.S., and the U.K. The winners received a limited-edition trophy featuring the Twitter bird.
Ertz’s tweet read, “A freaking BALLER and her husband,” and featured a selfie of the couple. It was posted after the United States Women’s National Team defeated host country France, 2-1 in the quarterfinals. The tweet recorded over 250,000 likes and 28,000 retweets.
