The Eagles were back in action following their mini bye to take on the Rams from SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
The Eagles played last Thursday, taking down Washington 26-18 in primetime. They are once again in the primetime slot for Sunday Night Football, taking on a Rams team that has won four out of their last five games.
Philadelphia took down the Rams 37-20 behind a record-breaking 255 yards from Saquon Barkley – the most in a game in Eagles franchise history.
"Saquon is a special player. Offensive line played special against a very good – that's a good defensive line. That's a very good defensive line, and we came into this game knowing that we had our hands full with them. So hats off to our players and that," Head Coach Nick Sirianni said.
Wide receiver DeVonta Smith was out tonight for the Eagles with a hamstring injury, while right tackle Rob Havenstein was out with an ankle injury for the Rams.
Although the Eagles picked up a dominant win, Brandon Graham said after the game that he suffered a triceps injury. Head Coach Nick Sirianni said that Graham is "one of my favorite guys I've ever been able to coach. We'll see where he is at. Not ready to talk about it yet. Holding out hope and we'll see."
Here's how the win happened:
First Quarter
- The Rams got the ball first and quickly got into Eagles' territory thanks to a 27-yard run from Kyren Williams. Darius Slay and Reed Blankenship collided on the play and both left the field. Tristin McCollum came in for Blankenship and Isaiah Rodgers came in for Slay. Both would return on the next drive for the Rams.
- FUMBLE! Rodgers and Cooper DeJean got in on the play to knock the ball out of Williams' hands. Nakobe Dean recovered, giving the Eagles the ball at their own 17. The Eagles challenged the initial ruling that he was down and the call was reversed.
- FIELD GOAL! Jake Elliott knocked in a 21-yard field goal after the Eagles' opening drive was stopped short at the Rams' 3-yard line. Jalen Hurts went 4/4 for 43 yards on the drive, while Saquon Barkley had 5 rushes for 26 yards (5.2 ypc).
- The Rams got down the field in 4:11 of game time and nine plays, finished off by a 1-yard touchdown run for Williams to take the lead. Puka Nacua had two big catches for 32 yards on the drive. Slay was called for pass interference on 2nd-and-goal, moving the Rams to the 1-yard line before punching it in. (Rams 7 – Eagles 3)
Second Quarter
- Hurts was sacked for a loss of 12 on 3rd-and-6 to open the second quarter, giving the ball back to the Rams at their 21.
- The Eagles forced the Rams off the field quickly and got the ball back at their own 36 with 11:48 remaining. Barkley was shaken up after taking a hit and would come out for a few plays before returning.
- Hurts found Brown on a comeback route for a gain of 27 yards to set the Eagles up at the Rams' 13.
- FIELD GOAL! Elliott knocked it in from 31 yards to make it a one-point game with 6:17 left in the half. An offsides penalty from Jahan Dotson and an ineligible player downfield penalty on Landon Dickerson set Philadelphia back on the drive.
- SACK! Brandon Graham flew by the right tackle to slam Matthew Stafford down for a loss of 9 yards on 3rd-and-9 to force a fourth down and give the ball back to the offense. The 36-year-old Graham moved into 3rd all-time on the Eagles' sacks list (76.5). He now has 3.5 sacks on the season.
- TOUCHDOWN! Hurts threw a great ball to Brown in the corner of the end zone that was originally called incomplete. After review, Brown caught the ball in the end zone before the ball got knocked out with 1:27 remaining in the half. The drive went 10 plays for 62 yards in 2:46 of game time. (Eagles 13 – Rams 7)
- SACK! Dean ran over Williams and got to Stafford on 2nd-and-5 for a loss of 8 yards.
- SACK! Josh Sweat brought down Stafford for a loss of 9 to end the half.
Third Quarter
- TOUCHDOWN! Barkley broke through on the first offensive play of the half for a 70-yard touchdown run. Barkley cut up the middle and got out to the right side and the rest was history. (Eagles 20 – Rams 7)
- Slay went down again after taking a hit to the head while making a tackle on Colby Parkinson at the 13:04 mark. Rodgers would come in for him. Slay would go into the locker room and was ruled out with a concussion.
- Graham kept it going and tackled Williams for a loss of 6 yards and followed it up by hitting Stafford on the next play to force an incompletion. After a pass interference call on Rodgers, the Rams took advantage as Stafford found Demarcus Robinson for a 2-yard touchdown pass. (Eagles 20 – Rams 14)
- TOUCHDOWN! Kenneth Gainwell picked up his first touchdown of the season on a 13-yard run where he broke a couple of tackles to extend the lead. (Eagles 27 – Rams 14)
- After the Rams converted on a 4th-and-1 from the 50 on a 29-yard completion to Nacua, Sweat went down with a leg injury for the Eagles. He would return.
- SACK! Milton Williams wrapped up Stafford and Graham helped bring him down to force a 47-yard field goal that was missed by Joshua Karty. Williams was credited with the sack.
Fourth Quarter
- FIELD GOAL! Elliott knocked in his third of the night, this time from 26 yards with 10:30 remaining. (Eagles 30 – Rams 14)
- SACK! Amid a long drive from the Rams, Williams got to Stafford again, forcing the ball loose and taking him down. The Rams were able to fall on it, but it resulted in a 4th-and-33, which made them punt it away with 5:13 remaining.
- TOUCHDOWN! Barkley smashed his career high thanks to a 72-yard run to put him at 255 yards on the night. His previous career high was 189. Barkley broke the Eagles' franchise record that was previously 217 by LeSean McCoy. (Eagles 37 – Rams 14)
