Prior to Thursday night's preseason finale against the Colts, the Eagles signed offensive tackle Fred Johnson to a two-year contract.

Johnson is no stranger to the Eagles as he was signed to the practice squad last November and returned this offseason on a reserve/futures deal. Johnson impressed in Training Camp, earning second-team reps at the left tackle position.

The 6-foot-7, 326-pound Johnson is entering his fifth NFL season out of Florida. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Steelers in 2019, but was claimed off waivers later that season by the Bengals.

Johnson has played in 28 career regular-season games with eight starts. In the 2020 campaign, Johnson started a career-high six games in Cincinnati showcasing his versatility with three starts at left tackle, two at right guard, and one at right tackle. He played 46 percent of the offensive snaps that year. Before joining the Eagles, Johnson played five games for Tampa Bay.
