In the 2025 offseason, the Eagles made the decision to exercise the fifth-year option of Jordan Davis' rookie contract after watching his consistent development since joining the team as the 13th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, following a brilliant career at the University of Georgia and a historic performance at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Davis went on to earn PFWA All-Rookie Team honors and emerged as a force during the 2024 playoff run with a sack in both the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LIX. Now he has been rewarded for his hard work, development, and leadership with an extension that keeps him in Philadelphia through 2029.
"We have tremendous confidence and faith in Jordan Davis," Executive Vice President/General Manager Howie Roseman said. "You just see a guy who elevated in the postseason and really counted on him continuing to develop and that's what this is. All of us, in all of our professions, you continue to develop and you continue to get better and that's what I think we're seeing from Jordan."
"He continues to get better. He's been in great shape all season. I think that's why you see him continuing to get better. I feel like every time you guys ask me about somebody, I kind of start talking about how good of a teammate he is. This guy is infectious around the team and what he brings," Head Coach Nick Sirianni said about Davis prior to Super Bowl LIX.
The Eagles kept one of their homegrown stars in the building for the long haul, agreeing to terms with standout defensive tackle Jordan Davis on a three-year extension through 2029.

Those words weren't lost on Davis.
"I love this team. I love this program. They gave me an opportunity. They believed in me when nobody did. And felt like it was my duty to be the best player I could be," he said.
Davis delivered on that potential with an eye-popping 2025 season, one that declared his presence as a disruptive playmaker along the interior of the defensive line.
- He played a career-high 686 defensive snaps while starting all 17 regular-season games.
- No NFL defensive tackle had more run stops than Davis' 34.
- He finished second among all NFL interior defensive linemen in tackles (72) and third in passes defensed (6).
- He set new personal benchmarks in QB pressures (22), tackles for loss (9), and sacks (4.5).
- He became the first player in Eagles history to win both NFC Defensive Player of the Week and NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors in the same season.
- His blocked field goal attempt that was returned for a touchdown to seal the win over the Rams was the Eagles' play of the year.
- The fans named him the team's Toyota Player of the Year.
Davis described 2025 as "a season of growth," both on and off the field.
"I just want to be the best player I could be for the team," Davis said during locker clean-out day. "I'm definitely proud of the work that I've been putting in. And that's not stopping. I'm going to continue on. I know my purpose is greater. My leadership is greater than this. I'm still focusing on growth. This is not the best that I can be. I'm always scratching, I'm always clawing for that. The ceiling is the only thing you place upon yourself."
Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio said that Davis should have made the Pro Bowl in 2025. Sirianni appreciates how Davis' transformation can be an inspiration to others.
"I think what a great example of the world that we live in today, instant gratification," the head coach said. "He's had to go through some ups and downs. Always has made plays for us starting in 2022, but there's been ups and downs in his career. He's just continued to put his head down and work. He's got himself in the best shape of his life. I think he's saying that and it's paying off, and just can't say anything more. Just happy for him because of all the work that he's put in."
Senior Defensive Assistant/Defensive Line Coach Clint Hurtt added, "Continue to see the growth and maturity in him and kind of finding his way. This whole process started really in the middle of (the 2024) season for him to find this new path of freedom. As a young guy, when you want more and you want to be able to play more and contribute more, which I know has always been important to him, it takes some time to figure that out for guys and it's been awesome to watch."
The Eagles' selection of Davis in 2022 started a four-year streak of the top draft pick being a defensive player. With Davis, that young core has in the last two seasons has won a Super Bowl, ranked second in EPA per play, and second in total points allowed.
