Eagles Clinch Home-Field Advantage With 19-10 Win Over Oakland

In a bizarre and sloppy Christmas Monday night game, the Eagles knocked off the Oakland Raiders 19-10 and secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Kicker Jake Elliott gave the Eagles the lead on a 48-yard field goal with less than 30 seconds to go. Rookie defensive end Derek Barnett polished off the win, earning his first NFL touchdown on a fumble recovery on a last-second desperation play by Oakland.

Quarterback Nick Foles finished the game 19-of-38 for 163 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Running back Jay Ajayi came away with the team's only offensive touchdown, his first career receiving score on a 17-yard screen in the first quarter.

With the win, the Eagles improve to an NFL-best 13-2 on the season.

On the Raiders' opening drive of the game, Philadelphia's defense came away with a stop on fourth-and-2 forcing a turnover on downs. The offense took over from its own 42 yard-line.

The Eagles pounded the ball on the ground midway through the first quarter. Running back Corey Clement converted on a fourth-and-1 attempt and Ajayi polished off the drive with his touchdown. On the score, Ajayi passed 1,000 yards from scrimmage on the season.

The Raiders responded with a score of their own in the second quarter. Quarterback Derek Carr launched one to wide receiver Amari Cooper who beat cornerback Jalen Mills one-on-one on a double move for a 63-yard touchdown down the right sideline.

An offensive holding call against Raiders guard Gabe Jackson negated a 45-yard reception from Cooper that would have placed the Raiders at the Philadelphia 2-yard line in the second quarter. The Eagles were able to force a punt two plays later.

Later, a defensive holding call against cornerback Dexter McDonald kept the Eagles' offense on the field just past the two-minute warning. Elliott was unable, however, to convert on a 33-yarder, and the game remained knotted at 7-7.

The Raiders received the ball to start the third quarter and connected on a 25-yard field goal to take a 10-7 lead.

A few minutes later, the teams engaged in an uncanny exchanging of turnovers.

Cornerback Patrick Robinson gave the Eagles a sorely needed spark when he intercepted a pass at the Philadelphia 37-yard line and returned it to the Oakland 44-yard line. Two plays later, however, Ajayi fumbled the ball and it was recovered by the Raiders. When the Raiders took over, defensive end Vinny Curry forced Marshawn Lynch to fumble the ball and it was recovered by safety Rodney McLeod at the Oakland 30.

Elliott would later convert on a 45-yard field goal to even the game up at 10-apiece.

An illegal contact call against cornerback Ronald Darby gave the Raiders a big first down with nine minutes to go. Raiders kicker Giorgio Tavecchio pushed a 48-yard field goal wide right, however, to keep the score at 10-10.

On the next Eagles' possession, Foles sailed one over the outstretched arms of Ertz and it was intercepted by cornerback Reggie Nelson at the Philadelphia 37-yard line. A few plays later, the Eagles snagged the ball back when safety Malcolm Jenkins ripped the ball away from running back Jalen Richard and recovered it at the Philadelphia 16-yard line.

With under a minute remaining, Darby came away with an interception giving Philadelphia the ball at its own 46-yard line, a huge play to swing the momentum back in the Eagles' favor.

The offense took the ball down to the Oakland 31 and Elliott stepped up with 27 seconds to go and drained a 48-yarder to put the Eagles up 13-10. Barnett put the finishing touches on the game when he recovered a fumble and returned it to the house for six.

The Eagles will play the Dallas Cowboys on New Year's Eve at Lincoln Financial Field to close out the regular season.
