Carson Wentz Missed Wednesday's Practice With Back Soreness

Quarterback Carson Wentz missed Wednesday's practice with a back injury. Nick Foles took over as quarterback for the practice.

In his Wednesday morning press conference, head coach Doug Pederson said the injury was back soreness and it was not game-related. He said Wentz would be re-evaluated after practice.

"Sometimes he just gets a little sore, a little tight, so we're just going to rest him today and evaluate him further," Pederson said. "Nothing game-related. He's dealt with it so we're just going to evaluate him further."

Pederson did not confirm whether or not Wentz would play on Sunday at Los Angeles.

"Again, we're going to focus on today, get through today, and see where he's at at the end of the day," Pederson said.

The Eagles have had more injuries pile up this week. Cornerback Jalen Mills, running back Corey Clement, and defensive end Josh Sweat were all placed in Injured Reserve this past week. Pederson also provided updates on other injured Eagles still on the active roster.

Defensive tackle Tim Jernigan is "doing better" and remains day to day. He missed the last two games with back issues and will be evaluated today. Defensive back Avonte Maddox is also improving and remains day to day with ankle and knee injuries. Pederson said there is a "chance" he practices today. He missed the last three games after suffering his injuries at New Orleans.

Jordan Hicks has also been out since the New Orleans game with a calf injury. Pederson has said the team is being cautious with him and he is also "improving" and listed as day to day. Cornerback Sidney Jones, who left Sunday's game against the Cowboys early with a hamstring injury, is also day to day. They will all be evaluated in the coming days.

"We'll have more information on all these guys later in the week," Pederson said.

Hicks, Jernigan, and Jones all missed practice Wednesday in addition to Wentz. Defensive end Michael Bennett (foot), tackle Lane Johnson (not injury related - personal), and guard Isaac Seumalo (pectoral) also did not participate. Maddox was limited on Wednesday.
