Reid: Vick Playing This Week 'A Stretch'

Head coach Andy Reid said that "it would be a stretch" for quarterback Michael Vick to play this Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers as he recovers from his rib cartilage injury, but he won't go so far as to rule Vick out. Reid said the team will move forward in their preparation as if Kevin Kolb will start on Sunday.

Running back LeSean McCoy, who played through one cracked rib in last week's loss to the Washington Redskins, is making progress, according to Reid. McCoy won't practice on Wednesday, but the pain is settling down and he could practice later in the week.

The two players who sustained concussions last Sunday, cornerback Asante Samuel and wide receiver Riley Cooper, will also not practice Wednesday, but they're both making progress and could practice on Thursday. Reid said he's "pretty sure" Cooper will be able to go this week, and he's also confident about Samuel's likelihood.

Reid said that even if Vick is ruled out this week, the Eagles will not sign another quarterback to the roster. Rookie fourth-round pick Mike Kafka is the third quarterback on the roster. Reid also doesn't expect to make a roster move at running back or wide receiver.

Lastly, Reid indicated that Moise Fokou will get some reps with the first-team at strongside linebacker in practice this week.
