The Eagles and Make-A-Wish thought they were hosting five wish kids to play mini-golf with Jalen Hurts last week.

As it turns out, there were actually six wish kids at the event.

Three Eagles Cheerleaders went to spend time with the wish kids and their families. Among them was Jordyn, a rookie cheerleader who had just made her debut to fans at Public Practice.

Once a wish kid herself, Jordyn found herself on the other side of the Make-A-Wish experience, making sure the kids' and families' day was special.

"It was honestly a really surreal experience," Jordyn said. "I really felt like I was living two lives in that moment. It was truly an honor to be there with those kids and be there for them that day."

"It really was one of the best days of my life."

A native of Richboro, Pennsylvania, Jordyn was diagnosed with kidney cancer at only 3 years old. When she became part of the Make-A-Wish family, the cheerleader-to-be asked to go to Disney World.

"The way that Make-A-Wish really allows it to be the entire family and the siblings, it really brings everyone together and makes just one kid that might not feel so normal have a normal experience," Jordyn said.

When Jordyn was asked to attend the Make-A-Wish party with Hurts, she already knew her answer.

"I almost felt like it was meant to be," Jordyn said. "I was like, hands down, I'll do anything you need. I will be there."

Jordyn spent the day interacting with the kids and families – not just as an Eagles Cheerleader taking part in the wish, but as someone who had experienced what they were currently going through. She talked about her story of overcoming kidney cancer, going to college and being part of the dance team, and eventually becoming an Eagles Cheerleader.

"I just used my firsthand experiences to be able to really connect with them," Jordyn said. "It gave me almost a way of giving them a sense of hope, because to see that, yes, I was a kid that had cancer, and it almost felt like my life was crashing down in front of me. You still can come out of it and be stronger than ever."

Jordyn was not allowed to participate in contact sports as a child due to her cancer treatment. She only had two options: swimming or dancing. Growing up, she always looked up to the Eagles Cheerleaders. Eventually, she became a member of the West Chester University Dance Team, inspired by Ashley and Deja, two Eagles Cheerleaders who made the squad from the university.

The rookie first tried out for the Eagles three years ago in her junior year of college, making the final round but falling short twice. In her third attempt, she made the squad for the first time this summer.

"I knew that I really wanted to be an Eagles Cheerleader because I kept coming back to audition, and I kept coming back stronger," Jordyn said.

At first, dance was a way for Jordyn to feel "normal" again, a place where she didn't have to talk about being a cancer survivor, an outlet for her emotions. Now though, Jordyn is proud of her journey through childhood cancer and knows the impact her story can have on others.

She did just that with the kids and families at the Make-A-Wish event.

For someone who was in their shoes, making an appearance as an Eagles Cheerleader was a full circle moment for Jordyn. Once a girl who wished to go to Disney World – where many people were part of making sure she had an amazing experience, Jordyn was now part of making a wish possible.

"It was so much fun. The kids each received a jersey, and they also made helmets. They even made Jalen his own helmet," Jordyn said. "It was really sweet. We played games together and cheered them on as they played mini-golf with Jalen. It was seriously a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
