Game Recap: Eagles 33, Rams 26 | NFL Regular Season Week 3

The Eagles scored 26 unanswered points and Jordan Davis blocked a field goal and returned it for a touchdown at the end of regulation, securing a 33-26 win over the Rams.

Here is how it happened:

First Quarter

  • INTERCEPTION! Zack Baun comes up with a pick of Matthew Stafford on the opening drive. Jihaad Campbell got pressure on the blitz, forcing a tight throw.
  • TOUCHDOWN! The Eagles take advantage of strong field position as Jalen Hurts scores on a Tush Push. DeVonta Smith picked up 11 yards 3rd-and-12, and Hurts Tush Pushed for the first down. A.J. Brown drew a pass interference penalty, setting up the Eagles at the 1-yard line. (Eagles 7 - Rams 0)
  • The Rams add a 51-yard field goal after Zack Baun came up with a pass break up on third down. (Eagles 7 - Rams 3)
  • Right tackle Lane Johnson is questionable to return with a neck injury. Matt Pryor has replaced him.
  • The Rams take a lead on a 44-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams. The Rams went 54 yards on three plays for the score. (Eagles 7 - Rams 10)

Second Quarter

  • The Rams extend their lead with a 28-yard field goal. The Rams had the ball on the Eagles' 2-yard line, but a holding penalty backed them up and the Eagles got a stop on 3rd-and-goal from the 10. (Eagles 7 - Rams 13)
  • Los Angeles makes a 33-yard field goal to make it a two possession game. (Eagles 7 - Rams 16)
  • The Rams add to their lead with a 46-yard field goal. The Eagles will get the ball to start the second half. (Eagles 7 - Rams 19)

Third Quarter

  • The Rams score a touchdown after they are set up with strong field position following a Jalen Hurts strip sack. Kyren Williams catches a 10-yard touchdown on the Rams' first offensive play of the half. (Eagles 7 - Rams 26)
  • TOUCHDOWN! The Eagles hit back-to-back explosive plays to cut into their deficit. Jalen Hurts delivered a perfect deep ball to A.J. Brown for 38 yards and then found Dallas Goedert for a 33-yard touchdown. (Eagles 14 - Rams 26)
  • Rookie wide receiver Darius Cooper is out for the remainder of the game with a shoulder injury.
  • TOUCHDOWN! The Eagles forced a punt after Jordan Davis chased down Matthew Stafford, and Philadelphia respond by going 87 yards, capped by a 9-yard touchdown grab from A.J. Brown. DeVonta Smith had a key 3rd-and-10 conversion on the drive. Jalen Hurts had a Tush Push first down on 4th-and-1 which help set up the touchdown. (Eagles 21 - Rams 26)

Fourth Quarter

  • HUGE STOP! The Eagles hold the Rams on 4th-and-1 and take over at the Philadelphia 48-yard line. Jordan Davis stuffed the run up the middle.
  • Cornerback Adoree' Jackson is questionable to return with a groin injury. Jakorian Bennett has replaced him.
  • BLOCKED FIELD GOAL! Jalen Carter blocks a 36-yard field goal and the Eagles take over at their own 9-yard line with 8:42 remaining and trailing by five.
  • TOUCHDOWN! The Eagles take a one-point lead with a 4-yard pass to DeVonta Smith on 4th-and-goal. Philadelphia went 91 yards, eating nearly seven minutes and giving the ball back to Los Angeles with 1:48 remaining. The Eagles went for two after the score but the pass was incomplete.
    A.J. Brown made two key 3rd-and-10 conversions on the drive, the first where he stiff armed a defender and gained 25 yards and the next picking up 23 yards. Saquon Barkley had a clutch carry on 3rd-and-3 to pick up the first down and set up the Eagles touchdown. (Eagles 27 - Rams 26)
  • BLOCKED FIELD GOAL!!!!!!! Jordan Davis blocks a potential game-winning 44-yard field goal and returns it for a touchdown!!! The Eagles win and improve to 3-0! (Eagles 33 - Rams 26)

Standouts

DT Jordan Davis

Davis had the best game of his NFL career, icing it with a blocked 44-yard field goal, which he returned for a touchdown as time expired. Davis also came up with a fourth down stop on a run and chased down Matthew Stafford by the sideline to force a punt.

WR A.J. Brown

Brown came up in the game's biggest moments. His 38-yard one-handed grab helped get the offense going, and he converted two 3rd-and-10s on the game-winning drive. Jalen Hurts went to Brown in crunch time, and he didn't disappoint.

WR DeVonta Smith

Smith caught the game-winning touchdown on 4th-and-goal from the 4-yard line. The grab came in the front corner of the end zone and capped off 26 straight points for the Birds. Smith had a team-high eight grabs for 60 yards.
