Jonathan Gannon will be coaching the birds next season. Just not the ones in Philadelphia.

The defensive coordinator has agreed to terms on a contract that will make him the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, the team announced on Tuesday.

Hired by Nick Sirianni to be the Eagles' defensive coordinator in 2021, Philadelphia had the league's No. 1 pass defense, No. 2 total defense, and No. 6 defense, according to Football Outsiders' DVOA metrics in 2022.

The Eagles set a franchise record with 70 sacks in the regular season and added another eight in the playoffs. Philadelphia became the first team to boast four individual players with 10+ sacks in the same season in NFL history. Linebacker Haason Reddick had a career-high 16 sacks and a franchise record 3.5 in the playoffs. Brandon Graham enjoyed his first double-digit sack campaign in his 13th NFL season.

Cornerback James Bradberry earned All-Pro honors after finishing with the third-lowest passer rating and the third-most passes defensed. Bradberry and Darius Slay were the only cornerback tandem in the league to each produce 14+ pass deflections and 3+ interceptions.

In his first season with the Eagles, Gannon's defense allowed 18 or fewer points in a league-high-tying 10 games.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Eagles lost Offensive Coordinator Shane Steichen, who was named the new head coach of the Indianapolis Colts.
