The Eagles took to the grass at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday for their Public Practice. Here's what stood out in front of a sold-out crowd as the defense held on to beat the offense in the competitive team periods:
Highlights
- The biggest reaction of the night came on a deep ball to DeVonta Smith, who made the grab on the right side of the end zone for a touchdown. It was a perfect throw from Jalen Hurts and a nice job getting separation with the ball in the air from Smith. Smith also had a fourth down reception later in practice.
- Quinyon Mitchell had two great reps against Smith, including a pass break up. His sticky coverage has been clear all throughout Training Camp.
- Jihaad Campbell had two would-be sacks of Hurts. The linebacker showed some juice Sunday night, bursting through the middle on a delayed rush.
- On Campbell's second sack, Hurts still threw the ball, and it slipped out of the quarterback's hand only to be intercepted by Nolan Smith and returned for a touchdown. The defense all gathered around Smith after the score. Smith also had a "sack" earlier in practice.
- Moro Ojomo batted a Hurts pass at the line of scrimmage and added a sack prior.
