Eagles Trail 17-6 At Half

The Eagles overcame a double-digit second-half deficit to beat the Indianapolis Colts 30-27 on Monday Night Football ...

INDIANAPOLIS - Indianapolis capped an 11-play, 44-yard drive to open the quarter, stretching its lead to 10-3 on Adam Vinatieri's 46-yard field goal. On the ensuing possession, the Eagles tried to get the running game going with three LeSean McCoy runs to gain a first down and then gained 9 yards on a pass to Darren Sproles, but the drive died after that when Nick Foles missed on a flare pass to Jeremy Maclin and Sproles was stuffed on a right-side run on third and 1.

The Eagles defense held the next time it was on the field and the offense set up shop at the 37-yard line with 10 minutes, 17 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Foles and Co. quickly found some rhythm. Foles gained 6 yards on a keeper to the right side and then zipped a pass to Jeremy Maclin over the middle to the Indianapolis 42-yard line. McCoy gained 12 yards on first down to the 30, taking a pitch and following left tackle Jason Peters. A deep throw for Maclin in the end zone was incomplete, but a Foles-to-McCoy completion gained 8 yards and Sproles picked up 4 yards up the middle to convert the third-and-2 play.

McCoy then gashed the Colts for 12 yards to the 6-yard line, where the Eagles had a first-and-goal situation. The drive faltered after that, however. Two McCoy runs moved the ball back to the 8-yard line, and then a swing pass to McCoy gained just 3 yards. Parkey capped the 12-play, 58-yard drive with a 28-yard field goal to make it 10-6 with 6:36 to go in the half.

A kickoff return plus a personal foul penalty against the Eagles gave the Colts possession at the 42-yard line. Quarterback Andrew Luck converted a huge third-and-13 play to the Philadelphia 42-yard line, finding wide receiver Reggie Wayne. Then Trent Richardson ran left, gaining 15 yards to the 27-yard line.

Another Richardson run left gained 6 yards and Ahmad Bradshaw picked up 2 yards, and then the Eagles jumped offsides for the third time in the half and gave the Colts a first down.

From the 14, Luck connected with Bradshaw on a screen pass right, and he broke a Bradley Fletcher tackle to reach the 5-yard line on the final play before the two-minute warning.

Two runs moved the ball to the 2-yard line, and on second and 1 with 1:20 to go in the half, Luck rolled left and flipped a pass to tight end Jack Doyle for the touchdown. The PAT was good and the Colts extended their lead to 17-6.

The drive was 10 plays and 58 yards and it put the Eagles in another double-digit hole at halftime.

The Eagles then moved the ball to the 47-yard line with two timeouts and 40 seconds still on the clock, but Foles' deep throw down the right sideline for Maclin was intercepted by cornerback Greg Toler and the Eagles trailed 17-6 at the half.
