The Eagles announced Tuesday that the club has signed wide receiver Erik Ezukanma and defensive back Shaun Wade. Subsequently, ouside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka has been placed on the Reserve/Retired list and defensive back Brandon Johnson has been waived to make room on the roster.
Ezukanma was a fourth-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2022 NFL Draft after spending all four years at Texas Tech. The 6-foot-2 receiver spent three years with the Dolphins before being waived ahead of the 2025 NFL season. After a brief stint on the Jacksonville Jaguars' practice squad, Ezukanma signed with the United Football League's D.C. Defenders for the 2026 season.
Through 12 games with the Defenders this year, Ezukanma amassed 264 receiving yards for one touchdown, rushed for 71 yards while averaging 8.4 yards per carry in the regular season, and totaled 621 yards on kick returns.
The Fort Worth, Texas native was named District 3-6A Offensive MVP for Timber Creek High School and committed to play football for Texas Tech. Through four years in Lubbock, Ezukanma finished his collegiate career with 138 catches for 2,165 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns.
Wade was selected by the Baltimore Ravens out of Ohio State in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but was traded to the New England Patriots later that offseason. The former Buckeye spent three seasons with the Patriots, playing in 20 games and recording 26 tackles.
After playing on the practice squad for the Chargers and Bears, Wade was drafted by the UFL's Dallas Renegades for the 2026 season. The defensive back had 24 total tackles, three interceptions, 9 pass breakups, and one forced fumble through 8 games for the Renegades.
At Ohio State, Wade was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2020 and a consensus All-American.
Tryon-Shoyinka was the No. 32 overall pick by the Buccaneers in 2021 and spent last season on the Bears and Browns. The 6-foot-5 Tryon-Shoyinka registered 15 tackles and 160 tackles in 66 games (45 starts) in four seasons with the Buccaneers. He signed with the Browns in free agency before getting traded to the Bears. After redshirting as a freshman at Washington, Tryon-Shoyinka played two seasons for the Huskies where he had nine sacks and 14.5 tackles for a loss in 25 games.
An undrafted free agent out of Oregon in the 2025 Draft, Johnson signed with the Eagles and impressed during Training Camp. He spent the season on the practice squad but was elevated for the final three weeks of the season and started in the regular-season finale against the Commanders, where he had a pass defended.
The defensive back started his collegiate career at Duke, spending three seasons in Durham before transferring to Oregon in 2024. Johnson totaled 173 tackles, three interceptions, 16 passes defended, and 20.5 tackles for loss throughout his four years in college football. – Written by Caroline Connor
