Jalen Hurts is cooking
Jalen Hurts is playing some of the best football of his career, and that's saying something. Here's a look at some of his stats and where they rank in the NFL through eight weeks.
- TD/Int Ratio: 15/1 (1st)
- Offensive TDs: 20 (2nd)
- Passer Rating: 114.4 (3rd)
- NextGen Completion % over expected: 7.6% (3rd)
Hurts has been lights out this season, and he is the only quarterback to post a perfect 158.3 passer rating in a game so far. Coming off back-to-back losses, Hurts threw for 505 yards, seven touchdowns, and no interceptions over the last two weeks, completing 79.1% of his passes.
DeVonta Smith is off and running
Through the first four weeks of the season, DeVonta Smith had 158 receiving yards, his lowest output through four games to start his career. Now, he is at 588 yards, his most by more than 100 yards through eight games in a season. A lot has gone right for Smith over the past month.
His hot streak was highlighted by an 183-yard outing against the Vikings, the most by any player in a game this season. He finished with nine catches and had a 79-yard touchdown grab, the longest reception of his career.
Smith is sixth in the NFL in receiving yards and fourth in yards per reception (13.4) amongst players with at least 40 catches.
Moro Ojomo continues to rise
Moro Ojomo didn't have a regular-season sack before this year, but that has quickly changed. Ojomo now has a team-high four sacks in 2025 and is a presence in the middle alongside Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis. His 15 pressures are tied for third on the team, according to NextGen Stats.
Quinyon Mitchell continues to lock down receivers
Of the 126 players who have been targeted at least 25 times, Quinyon Mitchell ranks No. 6 in completion percentage allowed (45.3%), according to Pro Football Focus.
Mitchell was targeted only once against the Giants, and he is one of two players with five passes defended in a game this season, which helped him earn NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Mitchell has been a lockdown corner for Philadelphia, traveling with the team's top wide receiver on occasion. He brings a steady presence to the secondary with the position opposite of him rotating.
Best running game of the season
The Eagles' run game had trouble getting going early in the season, but it exploded against the Giants. Philadelphia ran for 276 yards, the most in a game by any team this season, en route to a 38-20 victory.
Saquon Barkley (150 yards) and Tank Bigsby (104) became the first Eagles running backs to rush for 100+ yards in the same game since 2013. Barkley got things started with a 65-yard run on the second play, and the Eagles run attack didn't slow down from there.
All he does is score
Dallas Goedert has played seven games and caught seven touchdowns. The tight end has already surpassed his previous career high in scores (5) and is currently tied for the most receiving touchdowns in the NFL.
Goedert, who has two multi-score games, is a go-to option for Hurts in the red zone (where the Eagles lead the NFL with an 85% touchdown rate) and has benefited from strong play calls by Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo near the goal line. — Written by Matt Ryan
