The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired the 8th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso, cornerback Byron Maxwell, and the 13th overall pick in 2016.

Selected in the sixth round (173rd overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft, Maxwell joined the Eagles during the 2015 offseason after spending the first four years of his career with the Seattle Seahawks. In Philadelphia, the corner (6-1, 207) started all 14 games he played and finished the season with a career-high 51 tackles. Maxwell also notched two interceptions on the year, tied for second most on the team.

Before signing with Philadelphia, he was part of the Seahawks teams that appeared in back-to-back Super Bowls following the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Like Maxwell, the Eagles also acquired Alonso during the 2015 offseason. The linebacker came to Philadelphia via a trade with the Bills, who originally drafted him in the second round (46th overall) in 2013. After a stellar rookie season in which he earned Pro Football Writers Association Defensive Rookie of the Year honors, Alonso (6-3, 238) missed the entirety of 2014 with a torn ACL.

The linebacker continued to have trouble with his knee in 2015 as he aggravated it again during the Eagles' Week 2 contest against the Dallas Cowboys, which resulted in him missing the next five games. Throughout the course of the season, Alonso notched 45 tackles and recorded an acrobatic, one-handed interception in the end zone during the team's season opener against Atlanta.
