A four-time Pro Bowler, the 6-8 Carmichael was not only one of the tallest receivers ever to play the game, he was one of the best. A 7th round pick out of Southern in 1971, he played 13 seasons with the Eagles before finishing his career with Dallas in 1984. He finished his career ranked sixth on the NFL's all-time reception list with 590 and remains the Eagles career leader in terms of receptions (589), yards (8,978) and touchdowns (79). He was born on Sept. 22, 1949 in Jacksonville, FL, where he attended Raines HS.

YEAR-BY-YEAR

1971: After being drafted in the seventh-round, Carmichael played nine games as a rookie and finished with 20 catches for 288 yards.

1972: Carmichael had 276 receiving yards and scored the first two touchdowns of his career.

1973: The 6-foot-8 receiver broke out with a league-leading 67 receptions and 1,116 yards. He added nine touchdowns on the way to his first Pro Bowl.

1974: Carmichael had 56 catches for 649 yards and eight scores.

1975: Carmichael totaled 639 yards on 49 catches, adding seven touchdowns.

1976: The receiver caught 43 balls for 503 yards and five scores.

1977: Carmichael had 665 yards and 46 grabs, seven going for touchdowns.

1978: With 1,072 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, Carmichael made it back to the Pro Bowl at age 29.

1979: Carmichael earned his first All-Pro, finishing with 872 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns. He also finished sixth in AP MVP voting.

1980: Carmichael made his final Pro Bowl with 815 yards and nine touchdowns.

1981: With 1,028 yards, Carmichael posted his third and final 1,000-yard season. He added 61 catches and six touchdowns.

1982: In nine games, Carmichael had 540 yards on 35 catches, including four going for touchdowns.

1983: In his final season with the Eagles, Carmichael posted 38 catches, 515 yards and three touchdowns.
