Will Eagles Add Graham To Active Roster?

Defensive end Brandon Graham is eligible to return to the practice field when the Eagles reconvene after the bye week. The team's first-round pick in 2010 spent the first six weeks of the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list after suffering a torn ACL last year at Dallas.

Graham said earlier this month that if he wasn't on the PUP list he would be able to play right now. He would love to make his return to action on October 30 against the same team that he faced when he suffered the injury.

Head coach Andy Reid said on Monday that barring a setback Graham would practice, but it remains to be seen whether Graham will be placed on the active roster in time for the Dallas game.

"I'm not saying he's not going to play against the Cowboys. I think you just have to put him out there and see what he can do," Reid said. "Remember, these are his two-a-days right now. This is his Lehigh (training camp). You're putting it all together for him in a short period of time and coming off of an injury so you have to be smart with that.

"He's worked so hard, and you can't help but be pulling for him. He spent so much time rehabbing and getting out there running around and doing the things that he does coming off tough surgery. We'll see how he does."

Graham can practice with the team for three weeks before the Eagles would ultimately have to make a decision. If the Eagles believe that Graham is ready to play, they can activate him at any point in the next three weeks. However, the Eagles would have to release someone to make room on the 53-man active roster. If the Eagles do not think Graham is ready at the end of the three-week practice period, Graham would have to be placed on Injured Reserve for the remainder of the season.

"Listen, he's coming off major surgery, so you want to bring him back in and let him get back into football here, and that normally takes a little bit of time. You have to be realistic about it and then go from there," Reid said. "I can tell you, his last play was his best play. It was a phenomenal move on his last play when he hurt his knee. So we're looking for him just to get back in the swing and get in that groove of playing football. He hasn't had contact with anybody yet, you can't do that when you're on the PUP list."
