DE Vinny Curry is an Eagle once again

After a year in Tampa Bay, Vinny Curry returns home.

The Eagles signed the veteran defensive end to a one-year deal Thursday. A native of Neptune, New Jersey and lifelong fan of the Eagles, Curry was selected by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft (No. 59 overall). In 84 career regular-season games in Philadelphia from 2012-17, Curry had 147 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 22 sacks, and 85 combined quarterback pressures and hits.

He became a starter for the first time in 2017 and had career highs in combined quarterback pressures and hits (41) and tackles for loss (13) to go along with 48 total tackles and three sacks in 578 snaps, which were also his most as an Eagle. He added another 10 tackles and nine combined quarterback pressures and hits in the playoffs on the way to the Super Bowl.

The 6-3, 279-pound Curry signed with the Buccaneers last season and had 21 tackles, 2.5 quarterback sacks, seven quarterback hits, and five tackles for loss in 12 games (seven starts). Tampa Bay released Curry in February. He will turn 31 in June as he enters his eighth NFL season.

A four-year letterman at Marshall University, Curry compiled 26 sacks, 49 tackles for loss, and 10 forced fumbles during his college career. He was the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in his senior season after posting 11 sacks, 22 tackles, and seven forced fumbles.
