Ty Robinson presents more pass-rush potential for the defense

The second-year tackle's offseason of dedication paid off with a sack in the preseason opener.

Ty Robinson

"Get him!"

Saturday's preseason opener allowed defensive tackle Ty Robinson and the rest of his teammates the opportunity to take down the quarterback for the first time since Training Camp opened in July.

Robinson didn't waste the chance.

On second-and-10 with just under nine minutes left in the first quarter, Robinson blew past the Ravens' left guard and had quarterback Tyler Huntley in his sights. Huntley stepped up in the pocket and tried to escape, but to no avail.

"I haven't hit a quarterback in over a year, and in practice, there's a halo around all the QBs, so you kind of have to get used to it again a little bit," Robinson said after the game. "So being able to show that I was able to get there really helps boost my confidence and that I can become a really good pass rusher."

A fourth-round pick in 2025, Robinson spent his rookie year learning behind the talented trio of Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo. Hungry for a bigger role this season, Robinson stayed in Philadelphia during the offseason to work with the strength staff on improving his mobility, putting his pre-med degree from Nebraska to good use. In 47 snaps, Robinson had two tackles and the sack on Saturday night. Now, Robinson says, the goal is to be more consistent.

"I really want to be a three-down guy, so I want to continue to work on the run game, being more stout, being able to rip off blocks and go make plays," he said. "I don't know if everything's come together quite yet, but just being able to gain that confidence of the work that I've been putting on and off the field, showing up on the field tonight where everybody can see, it's a good thing for me. I do it for me and the fellows in the room. For the first game, I thought we played pretty well together."

The first live football action of the 2026 season is here for the Philadelphia Eagles as they travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens. Who will improve their case for a spot on the 53-man roster?
