It's the first gameday of the 2026 season for the Philadelphia Eagles and the team continues to tinker with the 90-man active roster, even in the final hours before kickoff.

On Saturday, the team announced that it had signed linebacker Brandon George. To make room on the roster, the team waived wide receiver Brandon Hayes.

George will wear No. 45 tonight.

The 25-year-old George is 6-foot-3, 240 pounds. He was signed by the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh in 2025. George had seven tackles and a quarterback hit in the 2025 preseason before landing on Injured Reserve with an undisclosed injury. The Chiefs released George in May.

A team captain in his final year at Pittsburgh, George set the school record for most games played with 65. He started all 13 games in 2024 at middle linebacker, registering 80 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery.

Hayes participated in the team's Rookie Camp on a tryout basis after not being selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. He was signed to the active roster on May 27 before being released on June 5. He returned on August 5.
