Rodney McLeod Placed On Injured Reserve

One day after head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Rodney McLeod underwent knee surgery, the team placed the safety on Injured Reserve. Wide receiver DeAndre Carter was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster.

It will be tough as the Eagles must replace a reliable and dependable playmaker on the back end of the defense. Since signing with the Eagles in 2016, he had missed just one game due to injury prior to this week. In the season opener against Atlanta, McLeod led the team with 10 tackles. He had three interceptions in each of the past two years. McLeod and Malcolm Jenkins formed one of - if not the - best safety duos in the league.

With McLeod out, Corey Graham is the starter at safety with Jenkins. Graham is a trusted veteran who was already an integral part of the defense as the third safety in certain subpackages. Graham has played 55 percent of the snaps on defense this year.

The Eagles also have Deiondre' Hall, who was acquired from the Bears on roster cutdown day. Tre Sullivan is on the practice squad as well.

Carter opened the regular season on the active roster after signing with the team after the start of Training Camp. He caught one pass for 10 yards in his NFL debut, the opener against the Falcons, but was released prior to the win over the Colts and joined the practice squad. Carter adds depth at receiver, but can return punts as well.
