The Eagles announced on Saturday that they have placed quarterback Jalen Hurts on Injured Reserve due to the superficial blood clot in his calf.

With Hurts sidelined, quarterback Tanner McKee is set to start this Sunday when the Carolina Panthers come to Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles used the open spot on the active roster to sign running back Jaydon Blue from the practice squad to the active roster. Blue is positioned to make his Eagles debut on Sunday.

Blue was originally signed by the Eagles to the practice squad on September 1. He was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft out of Texas. The Longhorn appeared in five games for Dallas in his rookie season, recording 129 rushing yards on 34 attempts and a touchdown. Blue was waived by the Cowboys as part of the final roster cuts.

The 5-foot-9 running back ran a 4.38 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine following a senior collegiate season which saw Blue rush for 730 yards, eight touchdowns, and average 5.4 yards per carry. In addition, Blue caught six touchdowns through the air in his final season at Texas.

The Eagles also announced that they have elevated outside linebacker Keyshawn James-Newby and safety Cole Wisniewski from the practice squad for Sunday's game. Sunday would mark the NFL debut for both rookies.

James-Newby was a seventh-round pick of the Eagles in the 2026 NFL Draft out of New Mexico. During his five-year collegiate career, James-Newby also played at Montana Tech and Idaho. In 53 games (46 starts), he recorded 226 tackles, 49 for loss, 33.5 sacks, nine passes defensed, five forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. He was a first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2025.

Wisniewski, also a seventh-round pick of the Eagles in this year's draft, spent four seasons at North Dakota State before finishing his college career last year at Texas Tech. In 61 games, Wisniewski had 294 tackles, 20 passes defensed, 11.5 tackles for loss, eight interceptions, five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. He was a consensus FCS All-American in 2023.
