McCoy Preaches Patience

Running back LeSean McCoy scored two touchdowns against the Dolphins, but called it "probably the worst game" of his short, but stellar, NFL career.

McCoy rushed for 38 yards on 27 carries for a season-low average of 1.4 yards per carry. McCoy was frustrated because he knew the gameplan called for him to get a lot of touches and he wanted to reward the coaching staff for their decision to do so.

"I hate negative plays. I try to make the best of every run, but in this league you can't," McCoy said. "I was trying to do extra stuff. In this league, you can't do too many things like that and be successful in the run game."

The third-year back is having an MVP-caliber season as he's first in the league in total touchdowns (17), rushing touchdowns (14) and second in rushing yards (1,172). McCoy is just one rushing touchdown and one total touchdown from tying the franchise's single-season records which were both set by Hall of Fame running back Steve Van Buren back in 1945.

McCoy adamantly dismissed any notion that his frustration over Sunday's performance was a result of a desire to pad his stats and win the rushing title. McCoy has taken notice that teams in the past six games have changed how they play the Eagles. Opposing defenses now stack the box in hope of eliminating McCoy.

"I still want to prove them wrong," McCoy said. "I'm a competitor. I just tried to make too many different things happen. There were some lanes there."

This week, the Eagles face the Jets who rank 14th against the run allowing 109.2 yards per contest. However, the Jets have only allowed 100 yards on the ground twice in the past seven contests.
