Thanks to his terrific effort in the Week 4 win against the Chargers, running back LeGarrette Blount is up for both the **FedEx Ground Player of the Week** and the Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of the Week awards. The honors are determined by a fan vote, so he needs your help to win.
Blount recorded season highs with 16 carries for 136 yards. His biggest run of the day came at a timely moment early in the fourth quarter. The Chargers had just narrowed the Eagles' lead to two on a 35-yard touchdown run by Austin Ekeler. On the second play of the Eagles' very next possession, Blount powered through multiple tackles and logged his way to a 68-yard run to place the Eagles inside the Los Angeles 5-yard line. Blount's play set up Wendell Smallwood's 3-yard touchdown which proved to be the game-winning points.
Blount came through again late for the Eagles. He rushed for the game-clinching 15-yard pickup with under two minutes to go that gave the Eagles a first down and allowed them to end the game in the victory formation.
"He's so big and powerful late in the game when defenders sometimes can be a little more fatigued and tired," head coach Doug Pederson said. "He just runs through tackles and it was well blocked and a great run."
