LeGarrette Blount Nominated For Weekly Awards, But He Needs Your Help

Thanks to his terrific effort in the Week 4 win against the Chargers, running back LeGarrette Blount is up for both the FedEx Ground Player of the Week and the Castrol Edge Clutch Performer of the Week awards. The honors are determined by a fan vote, so he needs your help to win.

Blount recorded season highs with 16 carries for 136 yards. His biggest run of the day came at a timely moment early in the fourth quarter. The Chargers had just narrowed the Eagles' lead to two on a 35-yard touchdown run by Austin Ekeler. On the second play of the Eagles' very next possession, Blount powered through multiple tackles and logged his way to a 68-yard run to place the Eagles inside the Los Angeles 5-yard line. Blount's play set up Wendell Smallwood's 3-yard touchdown which proved to be the game-winning points.

Blount came through again late for the Eagles. He rushed for the game-clinching 15-yard pickup with under two minutes to go that gave the Eagles a first down and allowed them to end the game in the victory formation.

"He's so big and powerful late in the game when defenders sometimes can be a little more fatigued and tired," head coach Doug Pederson said. "He just runs through tackles and it was well blocked and a great run."
