Johnson's Last Words To Serve As Demps' Motivation

Quintin Demps saw the media surround Shawn Andrews as he arrived at the players' dorms at Lehigh University. That was Demps' cue to duck out of the check-in center and make a dash for his dorm.

But a couple of reporters got away from the crowd to get Demps' thoughts on the passing of defensive coordinator Jim Johnson and his new role as starter entering camp.

On the passing of Jim Johnson: "Quintin Mikell actually texted me. It was just like a shock. I was like, 'Wow.' It humbles you a little bit, a lot really, to see something like that."

On what he remembers most about Johnson: "I really remember the last words he told me. He said, 'You're doing great so far. Don't let up.' I'm going to use that for some motivation and really, really press forward."

On camp getting underway: "It feels great. I'm real excited about the team and what we've got going."
