The Eagles announced on Tuesday that they have signed running back Elijah Mitchell.
Mitchell participated in the Eagles' post-draft Rookie Camp on a tryout basis.
The 28-year-old Mitchell enters his sixth NFL season. The 49ers drafted Mitchell in the sixth round (No. 194 overall) in 2021 out of Louisiana, where he was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection in 2020.
Mitchell spent four seasons with the 49ers, rushing for 1,523 yards on 327 carries (4.7 yards per carry) and scoring nine touchdowns. His best season to date came as a rookie when he gained 963 yards and scored five touchdowns in the regular season and followed that up with 169 more yards on the ground and another score in the postseason.
The 5-10, 200-pound Mitchell went for more than 100 yards rushing in a game as a rookie five times and chipped in with 96 yards rushing in his playoff debut, a win over the Cowboys.
Mitchell signed with the Kansas City Chiefs last season and played in one game.
Mitchell joins a roster with four other running backs (Tank Bigsby, Saquon Barkley, Will Shipley, and Dameon Pierce) and a fullback (Carson Steele).
