How to get to 2-0? The Eagles are on the road Sunday at Tennessee (1 PM on FOX/SportsRadio 94WIP), a young and developing team coming off a tough loss in Week 1. The Titans are playing at home for a second straight week and they want to get things moving in the right direction under first-year Head Coach Robert Saleh. Philadelphia has a lot to deal with in this game, so let's get to the storylines as the Eagles play their first game away from home in this 2026 season ...

1. The offensive line: Changes are here

Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson is on Injured Reserve, so the Eagles are going to ... do what, exactly? The team has kept the plan under wraps all week, but we will see what Head Coach Nick Sirianni has in mind when the game begins on Sunday. Continuity is the key for any offensive line, so when that is disrupted, there is a lot to work through. And so, it is with great focus that the Eagles are intent on getting things right up front, not just for Sunday but for the next several weeks. By the way, left tackle Jordan Mailata allowed zero pressures on 35 pass-block assignments in Week 1, earning Pro Football Focus's grade of 90.0, the best in the NFL, for whatever it's worth. Tennessee has a star at defensive tackle in Jeffery Simmons, a player who will command constant attention on every snap.

2. With that, the offense looks for the next step

The win over Washington was significant for a lot of reasons and the big-play offense, mostly in the passing game. Washington brought a lot of pressure and the Eagles took advantage down the field. But the Eagles also talked during the week about "being behind schedule" on offense, meaning they were in too many "second-and-pass and third-and-long" situations, as quarterback Jalen Hurts said. So, the Eagles want to have a much more productive first-down scenario that leads to all kinds of options on second and third downs. The Titans played pretty well defensively against the Jets in Week 1 and there is talent on that side of the ball and Saleh always has a good scheme. This will be, as Hurts said, "a challenge" for the offense.

3. Philadelphia's defense building off of Week 1

Among many things, the Eagles came out of the box and tackled extremely well in Week 1, missing only four tackles for 14 gained yards, according to defensive tackle Jordan Davis. That's extremely encouraging so early in the season. The Eagles also pressured the pocket, as outside linebacker Jalyx Hunt led the way with seven pressures, tied for fifth most in the NFL in Week 1. They didn't take the football away and there were other areas they want to improve upon (red zone, fourth quarter), so there are high goals for Week 2 against a Tennessee offense that has young talent, led by quarterback Cam Ward. Tennessee hasn't yet put it all together, but the upside is there.

4. Beat the heat! It is a real thing this week

Would you believe a real temperature of more than 100 degrees on the field at Nissan Stadium? It's true. And it's dangerous. And it's definitely a factor. And that's why the Eagles went to Tennessee on Friday, rather than the usual Saturday. The players have hydrated all week, but this is absolutely a test to the depth and conditioning of the players. It's going to be beyond hot.

5. A reminder: The team that wins turnovers usually wins

The ledger sheet in Week 1 was zero/zero. OK, fine. Jalen Hurts has had an NFL-high 50 starts since 2021 without a giveaway. That helps explain Nick Sirianni's record of 42-4, including the postseason, when winning the turnover battle. It is a weekly talking point and it is taken seriously: Protect the ball on offense and take the football away on defense and you have a really good chance of winning the game.

6. Special teams are always a factor

We saw it in Week 1, once again. Everything matters on every play and special teams can change the momentum of a football game. Jalen Carter's blocked PAT against Washington made a bit of a difference, didn't it? Braden Mann had four punts inside the 20-yard line – including two inside the 10-yard line and one inside the 5-yard line. Tennessee's kicking game is one of the very best in the NFL and the return team is capable of busting. The Eagles are here to win the battle of hidden yardage and to come out on top in the kicking game.
