Head Coach Nick Sirianni raved about Michael Clay's special teams unit in Thursday night's win over the Dallas Cowboys.
On Tuesday, the Eagles provided Clay and Running Backs/Assistant Head Coach Jemal Singleton with yet another asset.
The Eagles announced that they have agreed to acquire running back/kick returner Tank Bigsby in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round and a 2026 sixth-round pick.
The 5-foot-11, 215-pound Bigsby adds depth and experience to an already talented and versatile running back room. A third-round pick (88th overall) out of Auburn in the 2023 NFL Draft, Bigsby rushed for a team-leading 766 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
Two of his best performances came in victories for the Jaguars in 2024. He rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns in a 37-34 Week 5 win over the division-rival Colts, then two weeks later gashed the Patriots for 118 yards and two scores. Those marked the first 100-yard rushing outings of his young career.
The Eagles also appreciate what Bigsby can do in the kick return game. The NFL tweaked the dynamic kickoff rule this offseason to further penalize teams that simply kick the ball into the end zone and settle for touchbacks by moving the ball out to the 35-yard line instead of the 30. The installation of the dynamic kickoff ahead of the 2024 season resulted in a kickoff rate of 32.8%, up from 21.8% the previous season. There were also 59 big-play returns – returns of 40 or more yards – the most in the league since 2016. In Week 1 of the 2025 season, there were 156 kickoffs. An astounding 75.6 percent of the kickoffs were returned.
Bigsby totaled 1,015 all-purpose yards when the 2024 season was all said and done, averaging 32.5 yards on kickoff returns. He had one return for 20 yards in Jacksonville's win over Carolina on Sunday.
The 23-year-old Bigsby rushed for 2,903 yards and 25 touchdowns, while posting 13 100-yard games at Auburn. He rushed for a career-high 192 yards in 2020 against Mississippi State and accumulated a career-best 268 all-purpose yards earlier that same season at Arkansas. The 2020 SEC Freshman of the Year was given the nickname "Tank" by his mother when he was 7 years old.
