Commanders vs. Eagles injury report

Avonte Maddox 1920 111121

Head Coach Nick Sirianni revealed on Saturday morning that Josiah Scott will likely replace Avonte Maddox at nickel cornerback Monday night against Washington.

Maddox has been sidelined this week with a hamstring injury.

"It's not looking like he's going to go. Obviously, we'll give you the report later today, but it's not looking like he's going to go for this game," Sirianni said.

Maddox is officially out. Rookie cornerback Josh Jobe is also out with a hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, the Commanders will have explosive rookie wide receiver Jahan Dotson back in the lineup. Dotson has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in the Week 4 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

"I would say it definitely feels better," Dotson told reporters, according to Zach Selby of Commanders.com. "I gave it way more time to heal this time around. Just being very cautious with it really helped get to the point I'm at today."

Dotson tried to return in Week 7 against the Packers, but experienced a setback during the week of practice.

The return of Dotson is a positive sign for the Commanders, but if quarterback Taylor Heinicke can't be protected he won't have time to get the ball deep to the wide receiver. Center Tyler Larsen is questionable for Monday night with a back injury and left guard Andrew Norwell was added to the injury report on Friday with a groin injury. Norwell is also questionable.

Starting middle linebacker Cole Holcomb will miss a third straight game with a foot injury. Holcomb's backup David Mayo is also out with a hamstring injury. Third-down running back J.D. McKissic is out with a neck injury.

According to reports out of Washington, it is not certain that defensive end Chase Young will be activated off of Injured Reserve ahead of Monday night.

"The big thing is we're not going to play him unless he’s absolutely ready to roll. He's had a couple of good practices. It's just that there's some things, just right now, (he) isn't comfortable doing, which we get," Head Coach Ron Rivera told reporters. "But the things that he does, he's doing them pretty doggone well. We're pretty excited about that. It's just a matter of now, the conditioning aspect getting ramped up and the confidence. And that only comes with reps and practice."
