The Eagles ruled out several players ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Washington Commanders as Head Coach Nick Sirianni is prioritizing rest with the team assured no worse than the No. 3 seed in the NFC playoffs, which start with Wild Card Round next weekend.
"At the end of the day, it's not a guarantee that we can get to two seed, but I can rest the starters," Sirianni said. "Just thought that was the best thing for our football team right there. Feel really good about the guys that are going to go in there and play.
"Obviously, you can't rest everybody, and so we've had a good week of practice. We're going in there to try to win the game with some guys that haven't played a ton of snaps on offense and defense, but obviously have contributed. Just felt like that was the best thing for the football team for this week and moving forward."
Last season, the Eagles were one of four teams to rest starters in Week 18. All four teams won their first playoff game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Eagles' Wild Card win over the Packers.

Josh Johnson to start at QB for Commanders
The Commanders ruled out backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, so it will be Josh Johnson who starts for the Commanders in their season finale on Sunday against the Eagles.
Mariota suffered a cut on his throwing hand and a quad injury in the Week 16 loss to the Eagles. He was replaced by Johnson, who started in the Commanders' Christmas loss to the Cowboys.
Johnson won't have his top offensive lineman and blindside protector as Laremy Tunsil was ruled out with an oblique injury. Tunsil missed the first battle with the Eagles due to the injury.
The issue for Johnson and the Commanders is that backup left tackle Brandon Coleman is questionable with a knee injury. Coleman was a full participant in Friday's practice after being limited on Thursday.
Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels was also ruled out with the left elbow injury that sidelined him for the majority of the second half of the season.
Everyone else fully participated in Friday's practice and is good to go for Sunday.

Thursday's Injury Report
With the Eagles set to rest several starters Sunday against the Washington Commanders, the injury report is not as urgent, but there are some players who bear watching going into next weekend's Wild Card Round showdown at Lincoln Financial Field against either the 49ers, Packers, or Rams.
The Eagles added defensive tackle Jalen Carter, the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week, to the injury report on Thursday. He did not practice due to a hip injury. Carter returned from a three-week absence last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills and registered a sack and a blocked extra point in the road win. Carter was previously sidelined with injuries to both of his shoulders.
The only other change to the injury report on Thursday was linebacker Jihaad Campbell, who started last week in Buffalo for an injured Nakobe Dean, was upgraded to a full participant despite dealing with back and shoulder injuries. Campbell would have been limited on Wednesday, but the Eagles only held a walkthrough.
Four other Eagles did not participate in Thursday's practice: Dean (hamstring), tight end Dallas Goedert (knee), tackle Lane Johnson (foot), and outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips (ankle).
Rookie offensive tackle Cameron Williams was removed from the injury report. He was activated from Injured Reserve on Thursday.
UPDATE: Following practice, safety Marcus Epps reported symptoms to the team's athletic training staff. After an evaluation, it was determined that Epps suffered a concussion.

Who will start at left tackle for Commanders?
It looks less and less likely that tackle Laremy Tunsil will return to action on Sunday against the Eagles. The Pro Bowl lineman is considered a "long shot" by Commanders Head Coach Dan Quinn to play. Tunsil suffered the injury in the Week 15 win against the Giants and missed the first matchup with the Eagles.
The issue for Washington, who is preparing Josh Johnson to start at quarterback in the regular-season finale, is Tunsil's replacement at left tackle, Brandon Coleman, was limited on Thursday due to a knee injury. He was added to the injury report after participating fully on Wednesday.
Johnson is set to start against the Eagles' Tanner McKee because Jayden Daniels is out with a left elbow injury and Marcus Mariota has yet to practice this week with right hand and quad injuries suffered against the Eagles two weeks ago.
Wide receiver Treylon Burks, who had two catches for 30 yards two weeks ago against the Eagles, did not practice on Thursday due to an illness.

The Eagles held a walkthrough on New Year's Eve, so Wednesday's injury report is an estimation.
The team announced earlier in the day that several starters will rest in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Commanders, allowing for players to get a bye week ahead of Wild Card Weekend. The Eagles will host a game during Wild Card Weekend. They are currently the No. 3 seed and can finish as high as No. 2, but only with a win on Sunday combined with a Chicago Bears loss to the Detroit Lions.
If the Eagles held a full practice on Wednesday, four players would not have practiced: linebacker Nakobe Dean (hamstring), tight end Dallas Goedert (knee), tackle Lane Johnson (foot), and outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips (ankle).
Rookie linebacker Jihaad Campbell would have been limited with back and shoulder injuries, while rookie tackle Cameron Williams would have been a full participant. Williams is currently practicing in the designated to return window. He's on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury.

Washington will play its starters Sunday
The Commanders plan to play their starters in the regular-season finale. At 4-12, the Commanders are eliminated from playoff contention one year after playing in the NFC Championship, so for the second year in a row their season will end in Philadelphia.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels continues to be a limited participant in practice, but will not play against the Eagles due to the left elbow injury he initially suffered in November. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota was sidelined Wednesday with right hand and quad injuries. If Mariota can't play, Josh Johnson will start against the Eagles at quarterback.
Left tackle Laremy Tunsil remains sidelined with an oblique injury. He missed the first game against the Eagles two weeks ago due to the ailment.
