Another Late Rally Leads To Win

David Akers drove home a 32-yard field goal with under two minutes remaing to lift the Eagles to a 27-24 win over the Redskins at Lincoln Financial Field. The victory marked the team's second come-from-behind win in as many weeks and kept Philadelphia within a game of first-place Dallas.

"I'm proud of the guys for battling through, doing what they had to do," head coach Andy Reid said afterward.

Second-year playmaker DeSean Jackson did suffer a concussion in the game.

  • A 10-play, 90-yard drive resulted in Eldra Buckley 1-yard TD run, and then a shovel pass to LeSean McCoy converted the 2-point conversion as the Eagles tied Washington, 24-24 with 7:24 to go in the fourth quarter at Lincoln Financial Field.
  • Jason Campbell has two TD passes and one TD on the ground. Asante Samuel's two INTs helped the Eagles rally late in the second quarter to take a 16-14 lead at the half, but Campbell's 10-yard scoring pass to TE Fred Davis put the Redskins in front in the back-and-forth game. Campbell's 4-yard TD pass to Santana Moss capped a 13-play, 80-yard drive that put Washington in front 14-13 in the second quarter, and then Samuel's INTs led to six Eagles points to close out the half.
  • A Donovan McNabb 35-yard TD pass to DeSean Jackson put the Eagles in front, 10-7, but that didn't last long.
  • The Eagles won the toss, and then deferred on the opening kickoff. It was a very curious decision and now we know why: They tried an onsides kick to start the game and Washington recovered and returned it deep into Eagles territory. Four plays and 19 yards later, Campbell ran in from 1 yard out and Washington led, 7-0. The Eagles then marched 68 yards in 10 plays and scored on David Akers' 29-yard field goal. A TD pass to Jackson was nullified by penalty, but Jackson got his score on the next possession.
